HURRICANE IRMA UPDATES
Hurricane Irma is a severe and extremely dangerous threat to South Florida. It is likely to make major, direct landfalll somewhere across South Florida. Preparations to protect life and property should be completed by tonight! Residents are advised to take final shelter by early Saturday morning. Remain calm and stay tuned to radio and television broadcasts for further advisories.
Evacuations
Miami Gardens' residents living in mobile homes (i.e. Honey Hill, Riviera Park) have been ordered to evacuate. All residents should follow theMiami-Dade County evacuation orderswhich can be found on theirEmergency website. A mandatory evacuation order is in effect for all mobile homes, barrier islands, all of Zone A, Zone B, and portions of Zone C.

Trolley Service Suspension Notification:
The Miami Gardens Express Trolley Service will be suspended beginning Friday, September 8, 2017 until further notice.

Hurricane Irma Update From the National Weather Service:
Hurricane Irma is a devastating hurricane, now a Category 4, whose core is forecast to move between the Central Bahamas and the North Coast of Cuba today. As of 8AM, it currently has maximum sustained winds of 150 mph moving west-northwest at 16mph. This general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days with some decrease in forward speed. The current location of Hurricane Irma is 21.8N 74.7W which is approximately 450 miles southeast of Miami. Current pressure is 927 MB.
Hazardous Weather Outlook For South Florida
FRIDAY: There`s a chance of thunderstorms, especially this afternoon. Waterspouts are possible on all South Florida waters. Winds on Atlantic and Gulf waters will increase by tonight in advance of Hurricane Irma, with marine conditions rapidly deteriorating. Life-threatening rip currents are possible on Atlantic Beaches, in advance of Hurricane Irma. Heat index values will exceed 105 degrees across much of South Florida.
SATURDAY-THURSDAY: Direct impacts could begin as early as early Saturday morning. Destructive winds, significant storm surge, flooding rainfall, and isolated tornadoes are all possible this weekend and into Monday. The primary concerns for South Florida at this time are the potential for destructive winds and life-threatening storm surge.
The main window of concern is early Saturday morning (9/9) through Monday (9/11). Additional concerns exist for significant beach erosion and surf, and life-threatening rip currents. At this time, all interests in South Florida should continue to closely monitor the progression of Hurricane Irma.
