I had the experience this week of having to WEAR SOCKS, and then this morning, I had to WEAR A COAT.
I guess winter is coming. While the last gasp of autumn is here, I'm going to try to enjoy it as much as I can. Mums, pumpkins, and walks in the woods. I hope you can enjoy it too!

WEAC Committee Now Accepting Nominations for 2018 NEA Human & Civil Rights Awards
The WEAC Human and Civil Rights Committee will once again be charged with identifying a nominee from Wisconsin for the NEA's Human and Civil Rights Awards. If you have ideas for a nominee from Wisconsin, please contact WEAC president Ron Martin at
[email protected], who will forward your suggestion to the WEAC HCR Committee.
Last year, we were honored to have Senator Tammy Baldwin as an award recipient. WEAC President Ron Martin says it would be great if more of our allies and members were recognized for their work when it comes to Social Justice.

Micro-Credentials Access
for Members
WEAC members
can now access over 100 micro-credential courses through the WEA Academy at no charge. Earning a micro-credential is like taking a shortened version of a college course. Micro-credentials are sometimes called digital badges, micro-certifications, or nano-degrees. This free resource is an excellent way for members to hone or expand their professional knowledge and skills with a limited time commitment and at their own pace.

A benefit for Members geared toward early career educators - though ALL members are welcome!.
We are hosting these workshops in a place near you: Marinette, Sheboygan, Green Bay, and Sturgeon Bay. Included in the mix are workshops from WEA Member Benefits and a Region 3 offering of NEA's student loan informational workshop called "Degrees Not Debt." Sign up today!
The next series of workshops present an overview of Insurance and alerts participants to insurance GAPS you might not know you have.

Come get a basic understanding of federal student loans, repayment plans, and loan forgiveness programs.
