SPONSOR A CHILD THIS SCHOOL YEAR

Since its creation in the fall of 2013, the Nutrition On Weekends program has grown to help more than 450 local children whom are facing food insecurities in their home. The program provides supplemental food packs for children to take home on the weekend throughout the school year. Last year, the NOW program served children in the Marshfield, Auburndale, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, and Spencer School Districts. The program also served children at the Marshfield location of the Wood County Head Start program. This year, children from Pittsville and Stratford schools will also be served.

The communities' support of this program has been wonderful and has made it possible for the program to grow into what it is today. To continue the success of the program, United Way has created a sponsorship form as another way to support the program. There are 34 weeks during the school year that a child receives a food pack to take home for the weekend. The average cost for a food pack is $2.29. Each food pack contains:  2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 2 cups of cereal, 2 pieces of fresh fruit, baby carrots, and 2 snack items. The average cost to sponsor a child for the entire school year costs $78.

Please use this link to fill out an electronic sponsorship form. If would like a paper copy mailed to you, please click here.

JOIN US FOR LUNCH!
Please join us for lunch anytime between 12:00pm and 1:00pm on September 12th or September 13th. While you are here you will have the opportunity to meet and get to know this year's Campaign Drive Chairs, Jason and Kim Angell. You will also have the opportunity to learn about several of our funded programs from our partnering agencies who will also be in attendance.

On these two days, we will have all campaign supplies and packets ready and available for pickup! Many of you have committee members that work alongside you for your company's United Way campaign, please, share this invitation with them as well . This is a casual, laid-back event so come and go as you are able.

We ask that you RSVP with the number of people stopping by and on what day so we have plenty of food for all. To RSVP, you can reply to this email or call our office at 715-384-9992.

UPCOMING EVENTS
MAKING AN IMPACT...

Just recently I received a call from one of our recipients who is the age of 95. She has been on the meal program for the last 2 years. She told me she was moving. She went on to say that her family had taken her car away right before she started her meal with us. She said, "I was in tough shape". She said, "Without your meals coming daily, I could not have stayed in my apartment as long as I have". She continued, " I spent my whole life taking care of others, including my 8 children and husband, and at my age it was nice to be taken care of." She thanked us for always being so kind and for giving her the opportunity to live alone as long as she did. She told me that she was stronger, and in good health due to our specialized meals. She said, "I didn't think anyone really cared about me....then there was you".

The mission of the Home Delivered Meals program is to improve the health and well-being of homebound individuals in the Marshfield community through the daily delivery of hot, nutritious meals. Your gift to United Way helped improve the health and well-being of 163 home-bound individuals in the Marshfield community through the Home Delivered Meals program in 2016. Your generosity is making an impact in our community.
