Constitutional Review Commission

Every 20 years, a Florida commission looks at how to update the state constitution. That process is happening right now.  The commission's recommendations will go on the ballot in 2018.

Read the response by the League and a coalition of other groups to the CRC review of public amendment proposals and attend the Nov. 16   Informational Program, which is co-sponsored by our League.

Mission Accomplished:
Boxes of mosquito spray off to Puerto Rico

League member  Myriam Velez managed to get three boxes with 12 dozen bottles of mosquito repellent -- a much need item in short supply -- shipped to Puerto Rico.

Working with the Puerto Rico Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Broward, members of the League  and thanks to a generous store manager, Velez accomplished it all in a week.

National Popular Vote Interstate Compact

The League of Women Voters of Florida supports Representative Geller's bill requiring the state of Florida to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

ACTION ALERT: Support solar jobs

In September, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) sided with two bankrupt U.S. solar panel manufacturers and recommended that President Trump should impose expensive tariffs (taxes) onto imported solar panels.
While there are some American-made panels being installed throughout the country, the vast majority of solar panels and equipment are imported to the U.S., where it is assembled and installed by local work forces, which are in turn supported by a diverse industry made of thousands of engineers, designers, sales teams and customer service representatives.

If President Trump decides to add tariffs onto solar equipment, prices will go up, solar installations in America will be severely slowed, and thousands of jobs will be lost.

This is a step in the wrong direction.
