Sponsored students now benefit from the services of a full-time Education Officer. Ms. Maureen Akinyi, former teacher, oversees the academic progress and social adjustment of 61 sponsored students, providing home/school visits, counseling and advocacy services. Maureen oversees student-sponsor communications.

The most needy now have free access to school textbooks. 
Girls at eight local elementary schools are wildly excited about their newly formed Girls Clubs. Girl child advocate & teacher trainer, Mrs. Joyce Opondo, provides re-usable sanitary pads, AIDS-prevention education and advocacy & counseling services to our partner schools during monthly meetings of the Girls Clubs she organized. Mrs. Opondo heads our growing Girls Empowerment program. 
Widowed grandmothers caring for orphaned grandchildren were given highest priority for receiving dairy goats this year. For these families, economic security improved. For the community at large, however, conditions continue to erode. Our family livelihood program is evolving, giving greater focus to training & education for learning marketable skills that support sustainable livelihoods & improve community services. 
Five students traveled from Kendu Bay in August to meet their American sponsors and spend the day with them at Lake Nakuru National Park. This remarkable meeting of sponsors and their scholarship students opened windows of understanding and tied bonds of friendship. Never has the community witnessed such commitment. Your visit gave proof.
