COMPOST CORNER
What About Those Pesky Olive Oil-style Bottles?
Q. A question regarding recycling glass bottles like olive oil, that have a metal ring around the top after removing the cap and the plastic spout insert.
Do we need to remove those items from the glass bottle before recycling? They can be really hard to get off.
Nicole
A.
Nope, you do not need to remove the metal ring and plastic spout from the bottle. The glass recycler grinds and cleans the glass once we send it to them - and their process both removes metal (to be recycled) and the plastic, labels and other non-glass items.
Email your questions about Curbside Composting or recycling.
We'll get responses from our recycling guru,
Tim Dewey-Matti of
Napa Recycling
and Waste Services
