| Operation Christmas Child |
 Operation Christmas Child (sponsored by Samaritan's Purse) helps provide for needy children worldwide and is a great opportunity to give out of the abundance that God has given to us. Each class will be filling two shoeboxes to send, and collections will take place between October
23rd and November 10th.

- Pray for a return to peace and stability after decades of corruption, dictatorships, and terror.
- Pray for humble pastors trained in biblical theology who reflect Jesus to a watching culture.
- Pray for Christians to boldly oppose sin and injustice while also ministering to the poor and oppressed

Veterans Day Celebration - Friday, Nov 10
|
Invite your friends and family to this very special annual community event held at Heritage. We are thankful for our veterans, and we look forward to honoring them. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors so that we can pack the gym once again to celebrate and honor the brave men and women that have served our country.
|
We encourage you to celebrate Halloween at home, if you choose to do so, in a manner that you find appropriate for your family. Please do not send your children to school dressed up in costumes or with candy/treats on Tuesday for the purpose of celebrating Halloween.
Our non-participation is not a judgment on the holiday itself or those who celebrate it, but rather a judgment on the best use of school time.

Stop in at Molly's in North Liberty on Thursday, Nov. 2 between 3-9pm for a sweet treat. Mention that you are with Heritage and Molly's will give a percentage back to the school.

New Playground Fun - Gaga Ball Pits
|
Thanks to Rocca Custom Homes, Gilcrest-Jewitt Lumber and Liona Rocca for the materials and assembly of some new playground fun. Be sure to ask your kids if they've had a chance to play Gaga Ball (aka Octoball) at recess! It's been a hit!

Grantwood Area Education Agency provides online resources for staff, students, and parents. In your child's Friday Folder you should receive a bookmark with information on how to access those resources. The bookmark also contains the username and password. Feel free to check it out!

All School Thanksgiving Lunch - Friday, November 17
|
Friday, November 17th, will be our annual All School Thanksgiving Day Lunch. Again this year we'll have an opportunity for the entire school community to come together at the same time to give thanks through worship, eating, and fellowship. We look forward to spending time acknowledging together how God has blessed us as individuals, families, and a school.
Parents and grandparents, you are encouraged to arrive at school by 11:20am to join your child(ren) in the gymnasium for chapel, beginning at 11:30am. Following chapel, we will enjoy lunch "picnic-style" on the gym floor at 11:50am. Recess will follow outside from 12:30-1:00pm.

Volunteer Concessions Coordinator:
We are in need of a Concessions Coordinator for the upcoming basketball season. The main responsibilities of the Concessions Coordinator are to organize parent volunteers, purchase food items, and monitor the concessions stand on home games. If you would be interested in helping out the athletic program, please e-mail Serah Snell at [email protected] by Friday, October 20.
