Come see singer-songwriter, Leftmore
, FRIDAY night in Bentdahl Commons at 6 p.m. Tickets are FREE with CAF and $9 without. Make sure to get your ticket at the Luther Ticket Office or online today! Leftmore is an independent, touring solo acoustic rock act from Colorado. One part story-teller, one part emotive melody, and at least one part human.
Students, faculty and staff who have questions about DACA and the implications of recent changes to DACA for our community are invited to meet with Yer Vang on Thursday, September 14, from 9:45am-11am in Qualley Lounge. Yer Vang is an immigration attorney who serves Director of Immigration and Refugee Services for the Catholic Charities, and works in the Decorah area. Second Annual Religion Department Open House Thursday, September 14 from  4:30-5:30 p.m. in Hammarskjold Lounge . All members of the Luther community are invited to come meet and mingle with the faculty and students of the Religion Department. Please come and enjoy some Nordic goodies while getting to know about us and our work.

Luther College PALS - Do you like hanging out with kids? Do you have a couple hours each month to participate in fun activities? Then PALS is for you! Come to a meeting to find out what PALS is about and grab an application to be a part of this exciting program! Meetings to be held in Valders 362 on Sunday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m. or Wednesday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m.
 
Take an Alcohol Screening - Get A Free Drink: Wednesday September 13 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at table in Union. Counseling Service, in partnership with Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health will be offering students a free coupon for a Marty's shake for completing and reviewing an alcohol use screening. Learn more about low risk drinking.
 
Community Sings Have Started! Are you terrified to sing? An experienced singer? Somewhere in between or just want to sing? Whether you've sung all your life or think you can't carry a tune, don't worry! In no time at all you'll find yourself part of a glorious sound when you join Liz Rog for community singing!  Thursday's from 5-6 under the CFL canopy (rain location CFL 205) now until October 5. Sponsored by College Ministries and Wellness.
 
Preparation for the print version of the 2017-18 Luther College Faculty-Staff Directory has begun.  Please review your current information on the online directory 
and report any changes to your title, office address, office phone number, or Luther email to HR   or x1134.
On Saturday, September 9 Luther will host the All-American Cross Country meet. In addition, it's also the first home football game and Community Day. Busses will be asked to park in the Barn lot and the City Pool lot so these lots will be restricted to bus parking only starting at 8:00 pm on Friday, September 8. Students who usually park in the Barn lot may park in any student or general parking area on the main campus through the weekend.

RERUNS
 
Faculty, staff are invited to enjoy a day of food, fellowship and fun at Community Day and the Dedication of Legacy Field on Saturday, September 9, at the Regents Center. Registration required. Picnic cost: $6 per adult, kids free. Parents can reserve free "Sail Norse" t-shirts for their children (must be picked up at the picnic). Schedule: All-American Cross County meet, 9 a.m.; Dedication of Legacy Field, 12:00 p.m.; Community Picnic, Regents Center circle drive, 12:30-1:30 p.m.; Luther Football vs. St. Olaf, kick-off at

Friday, September 8 is the last day to add fall classes. Add planned courses immediately. If you've left registration for a course with a department head, make contact with that person and be sure the course is added by September 8. 
 
CEPE Book Groups are Here! Students, staff, faculty and community members are invited to sign up for a book group that will meet twice in the coming weeks. The Diversity Center has a small supply of textbooks available for loan for free. A list can be found here (red text indicates checked out). If interested, please stop by the Diversity Center in the Union to pick up a form to take to the circulation desk in the library. You are responsible for returning all books to the library at the end of the semester. No reservations, first-come, first-served only.
 
Focusing on the conflict in Kosovo and the interactions between Albanians and Serbs following the NATO bombing in 1999, Nobel Peace Prize nominee Steinar Bryn from the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue in Norway will show his film "Reunion" and host a discussion on peacemaking at 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, in the Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall. Alumni Art Exhibit

An art exhibit featuring works made by 15 Luther College art alumni will be on display in Preus Library.

This year's alumni exhibition features works created by artists who have pieces currently in the Luther College Fine Arts Collection and also are celebrating reunions at this year's Homecoming. The show will include both 2-D and 3-D pieces, as well as video.
