To ensure a smooth transition, PAIR's board has selected Jennifer Garmon, LMSW, as our interim Executive Director.
Jennifer joined the PAIR community through work on our strategic planning process in 2015. Her role as a refugee resettlement case manager in Kansas City and leadership roles with national youth development programs drew her to PAIR's mission.
Jennifer's passion for working with refugees was ignited when she lived overseas in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as a youth. This experience fueled her decision to work in public service. Jennifer earned a master's degree in social and economic development from Washington University in St. Louis and was awarded a prestigious leadership fellowship from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She recently returned to Houston after two years in South Korea.
PAIR's mission of empowering young refugees to navigate American society, reach their academic potential, and become community leaders is more critical than ever. Although
the number of new arrivals will diminish somewhat this year, refugee youth continue to reach Houston with dreams and ambitions for a bright future. And students return to PAIR year after year for the support they continue to need. PAIR is here to ease their adjustment to a new life and help them realize their dreams!
With warm wishes,
