NASW-NJ Testifying at Joint-Hearing on DMHAS Transfer

July 25th, 2017
11:00 AM, Committee Room 4

Chris Christie's plan to shift DMHAS from the DHS to the DOH has been met with widespread criticism across the spectrum of mental health and addiction providers. Although some have supported the Governor's plan, NASW-NJ and its partners strongly oppose the implementation of this transfer.

NASW-NJ supports improved integration of behavioral and health services. However, this reorganization is ill-timed, in the midst of existing instability and uncertainty related to the transition to Fee For Service. Additionally, we find it irresponsible to make such major changes shortly before the turnover in administration. This leaves new players to put together the pieces at the cost of the consumer.

I will be testifying at the Assembly Human Services and the Senate Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee joint hearing on Tuesday, July 25th. Please come and show your support for making a responsible decision in blocking this transfer.
