Verification of Renewal for NP Certification
|
Please take a moment to review the following announcement from the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN) concerning verification of national certification and renewal which needed for Nurse Practitioner licensure in Alabama.
As stated, the ABN requires that the certifying agency send verification of certification/renewal to the ABN and will not accept documentation from the Nurse Practitioner. The information can be delivered from the certifying agency to the ABN via email, fax, or USPS mail. Nurse Practitioners should receive a notice of the need for Advanced Practice license renewal 30 day prior to expiration.
These notices are sent via email. Please take a moment to check your profile on the ABN website and confirm that the email address on file is current. Make it a point to check your email account regularly as newsletters and other communications from the ABN will be sent electronically to your email address. If you aren't receiving email updates, check your Spam folder.
Below is a notice sent from Board of Nursing:
ATTENTION: ALL ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSES
Related to certification renewal for advanced practice nurses, I would like to take this opportunity to review the process for notifying the ABN when your AP certification is renewed. The Board accepts primary source verification
ONLY
from your certifying body. Upon certification renewal, you should request that the certifying body provide notification directly to the ABN. Your certifying body may send notification either by email to
Melissa.Curtis@abn.alabama.gov
or by United States mail to PO BOX 303900 Montgomery AL 36130-3900.
As always, thank you for all you do for Alabama patients. Please direct any questions or comments to Dawn Daniel of the Board staff.

As reimbursement moves from fee for service to quality based reimbursement structure nurse practitioner’s will need resources to guide toward the use of MACRA’s. This link will provide information: Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act. This information can be found on the AANP member web site, also.
This year is the senate special election to elect a U. S. Senator for AL to replace Jeff Sessions. Please know that, not only do we need legislative supporters in Alabama, we need supporters in DC to support our initiatives. Please review all the profiles for the candidates and support the candidate who will be pro-nurse practitioner issues.

HIMSS Call to Action: Ask Your Senators and Representatives to Cosponsor the CONNECT for Health Act of 2017
|
The CONNECT for Health Act of 2017 has been introduced in both the U.S. Senate (S.1016) and House of Representatives (H.R. 2556) and is strongly supported by HIMSS.
The CONNECT for Health Act of 2017 contains many of the recommendations that HIMSS has long advocated for, including in our HIMSS 2015 Congressional Ask #3 – Expand Access to Telehealth Services for Medicare Beneficiaries and 2017-2018 Public Policy Principles . This bipartisan legislation will modernize healthcare delivery for Medicare beneficiaries by removing barriers to the use of telehealth and other healthcare technologies such as remote patient monitoring, resulting in greater access to high-quality care, improved continuity of care, and better value for patients and the Medicare program.
We urge you to contact your Senators and Representatives quickly and easily with our letter requesting that they co-sponsor the CONNECT for Health Act.
You can use the standard letter, modify the letter, or write your own. IT'S EASY! All you need is your zip code, and HIMSS’ Legislative Action Center will guide you through the rest, step-by-step. The whole process will only take a few minutes, but it will have a huge impact.
TAKE ACTION to encourage your Senators and Representatives to cosponsor this important bipartisan legislation by sending a letter today.
