FirstLight Players Presents
"An Equal Right to Act: Rochester Woman's Rights 1848 Remembered" will be presented this Sunday, July 23 during the 10:00am worship service. Church historians Colleen Hurst and Bill Fugate, with creative writer/director Ira Srole, have combined their energies to bring together an 18 member cast who step back in time to when our church was the only receptive venue for a progressive movement. We held the springboard convention directly following the famed Seneca Falls convention. Attendees included Frederick Douglass, Amy Post, Lucretia Mott, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. This performance includes period attire, screened historic portraits, and tidbits of period music by pianist Zachary Zwahlen.

20th Annual UU Open - and the Winners are....
The weather cooperated once again and we had a delightful 20th UU Open golf outing at Parkview Fairways last Sunday afternoon, the  July 16.  The 13 people who signed up were assigned to one of four teams who played the first nine holes of Parkview Fairways Golf Course in a scramble format.  The winners this year, with a score of three under par, were "Gardella's Greats." Paul Gardella was the captain; Mike Gardella, Dave Trauernicht and Mitch Speicher were members of the team.  There were also winners of the Pitch-to-the-Bucket, the Closest-to-the-Hole and the Longest-Drive competitions.  To learn more, click here.

Where is the Paint in our Church Building?
Louis Kahn firmly believed that materials used in the building should be visible and not concealed. The wooden doors and window frames are finished with materials to preserve the wood and enhance its beauty, not to conceal it. Marlin Potter, a key manager at Hyland and Sons (the company that constructed our building), says that not one gallon of paint was used in its construction.
