KID and others launch SaferProducts.gov campaign
In the last week of November, KID joined the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) and other consumer groups in releasing an analysis of SaferProducts.gov, the government's product safety database. This analysis, SaferProducts.gov: Five Years Live, concluded that SaferProducts.gov is a highly effective resource for consumers, especially as we head into the holiday shopping season. We encourage all shoppers to use the SaferProducts.gov database to get safety information about the products on your holiday shopping lists. Find KID on social media throughout the month of December to follow the SaferProducts.gov campaign. You can show your support using these hashtags: #SaferShopping, #SaferHolidays, and #5YearsLive. For more information, check out our blog post.

Update: Bath seat safety
Injuries and fatalities due to infant bath seats have been making headlines for years. To prevent drowning deaths, the CPSC created a mandatory standard in 2010. The standard is very strict in order to address those risks -- no bath seats currently meet that standard. Research shows that bath seats create a false sense of security for parents and caregivers. However, bath seats are not safety devices, nor are they a substitute for adult supervision. Infants should always be within arm's reach during bath time. For more information, you can read our blog post here, or visit our Product Hazards page on bath seats

KID honors Danny's birthday in year-end campaign
Danny Keysar, whose death led to the founding of KID, would have celebrated his 20th birthday this month. During the 2016 giving season, we ask that you join us in honoring Danny, and all children impacted by product hazards, and consider giving to KID. Your gift to KID will support our life-saving mission of advocating for safer children's products, spreading crucial information on recalls, and educating parents and caregivers. Danny's parents will be matching all donations made in his honor during the month of December. Through the support of the Reva and David Logan Foundation, all new and increased donations will also be matched. Click here to donate now, and here to become a GEM (Giving Every Month) member in 2017.

MIPA Summit 2016 Reflections
On December 1st and 2nd, KID Executive Director, Nancy Cowles, and KID Program Associate, Carson Gaffney, attended the Midwest Injury Prevention Alliance ( MIPA) Summit in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. MIPA brings together injury prevention professionals from across the Midwest to connect and collaborate. On the first night of the conference, Carson was joined by Lisa Siefert from Shane's Foundation to present our groundbreaking furniture research in a poster session. The following morning, Nancy, Lisa, and a representative from the CPSC presented on the hazard of furniture tip-overs, the progress that has been made, and next steps for the #AnchorIt campaign. For more information about furniture tip-overs, visit our Product Hazards page. To read Shane's story, click here.

Thank you for #GivingTuesday support
We at KID would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to those of you who supported KID during our #GivingTuesday campaign. This campaign was our most successful to date! Between your gifts and matching support from the Reva and David Logan Foundation, we raised $12,395 -- far surpassing our goal of $10,000. We couldn't have exceeded this goal without your support, and the help of our work study interns. Thank you for supporting us as we work to keep children safe.
