It seems as though the IRS phone scammers are currently in full force. We have received multiple calls in the past few weeks from citizens stating they received a call from a individual who said they were with the IRS, and there was a warrant issued for that persons arrest, due to non-payment. Luckily, none of those who reported the calls to us gave out any personal information, and they called us immediately to verify. We urge anyone reading this to spread the word, primarily to your elderly or senior family or even neighbors, as that is the group that phone scammers primarily target. Many seniors do not have computers or other forms of electronic communication, or access to the internet, so they are not aware of these types of scams. That is why we ask that people reading this to be diligent in spreading the information to their loved ones and/or neighbors who might not otherwise have access to this type of information. If ever in doubt, please feel free to call us, and we will do our best to help research the validity or falsehood of the call received. Attached is a page from the IRS website with some very good information regarding scammers who use the IRS as their mode of threat.
