Ray Park Master Plan Survey Deadline is Tomorrow!
The Burlingame Parks & Recreation Department is beginning a Master Plan for Ray Park and seeks public input! The Master Plan will be a comprehensive vision for Ray Park that will provide a framework for the park's use and development.
The Ray Park Master Plan advisory committee will be meeting over several months to evaluate and discuss playground designs, parking options, playground amenities, the snack shack, restroom, and parks storage.
Eventually the plan will be presented to the Parks & Recreation Commission for approval and phasing options will be discussed. The first priority will be to renovate the playground area to meet current ADA accessibility standards.

Honor Veterans & Armed Forces Service Members
Submit nominations no later than November 2
The City of Burlingame invites the community to nominate a Burlingame veteran or current member of the U.S. Armed Forces for special recognition this Veterans Day. Mayor Ortiz will present certificates of appreciation to new nominees at the November 6 City Council Meeting. If the service member is unable to attend in person, a family member or friend may accept the certificate on his/her behalf.
Please note that certificates of appreciation will be awarded to new honorees, not previously recognized at last year's meeting.

Paloma Playground Groundbreaking
Beginning October 30, 2017 Paloma Playground will be receiving a complete renovation. The playground will be closed and the parking on Paloma Avenue proximate to the playground will inaccessible during construction. Paloma playground was vandalized in December 2016. With help from the Parks & Recreation Foundation, an insurance settlement, and Capital Improvement Funds this neighborhood treasure will be better than ever. We appreciate your patience during construction. Many thanks to our neighborhood volunteers who assisted with selecting equipment and amenities for the playground. Work is anticipated to be complete by late January, 2018 (weather permitting).

Manisse Newell of the Hillsborough Garden Club will create a variety of arrangements featuring fall flowers. Learn techniques to create lovely table displays in your own home using flowers readily available in out area. Manisse arranges flowers in the Flemish, French, and English country tradition stressing the imagination in the use of containers, props, and flowers. Attendees will have a chance to bring home one of the gorgeous arrangements in a free raffle at the talk.

McKinley Elementary Harvest Festival

For two fun-filled nights each October, the McKinley community comes together to transform the entire school into a unique Halloween experience for kids and adults alike! The Harvest Festival's legendary haunted mansion - the scariest, most memorable haunted house on the peninsula - will be back and better than ever. Visitors will enjoy a wide array of games (with winnable prizes) and rides including a rock climbing wall, go-cart racing and huge inflatable double slide as well as kid-friendly DJ's and great food. You also won't want to miss the Sweet Shoppe, prize drawing, silent auction gallery as well as arts and crafts, face painting and Little Boo's haunted playground for the younger visitors.
