A Thought to Carry with You
What do we all have to be grateful for this Thanksgiving season? One powerful thing that may not come immediately to mind is gratitude for ample opportunities to strengthen the muscle of our heart. As Diane de Poitiers writes in Winifred Gordon's A Book of Days, "Courage is as often the outcome of despair as of hope; in the one case we have nothing to lose, in the other, everything to gain."
So we wish you a courageous heart. And we thank you for all the times that your messages, your participation in our e-courses, your financial gifts, and your prayers have given us heart. Dr. Albert Schweitzer observed that "sometimes our flame goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being." As Thanksgiving approaches, we think of all the times you have helped keep our flame alive, and we hope that our services do the same for you. May this grateful give-and-take keep courage alive in all of us.
