Administrator's Message
Once Enrolled, Always Enrolled - Moving to Automatic Enrollment for K-12 Programs
As our school continues on a path of continuous improvement, one of the areas we've been investigating is our enrollment processes and procedures. In the family surveys from last year, we learned that there are a couple of areas we could improve on:
- The enrollment paperwork is considered heavy, especially when little information changes for families from year-to-year.
- Paper enrollment forms can get "lost in the shuffle" for many families.
- While families wish to re-enroll, enrollment fees can feel burdensome in the spring, causing many families to wait until the last minute.
In response, TRCS is going to make a couple of changes to our systems. First of all, this year we will be utilizing the Online Enrollment component of RenWeb. This will allow enrollment forms to be filled out online with minimal year-to-year updating. (It will also allow you to login and make mid-year changes to emergency contacts, etc.) Since this is cloud-based, this will streamline processes between the two campuses and prevent any loss of paperwork.
Second, we're going to move to a system of Automatic Enrollment - or "once enrolled, always enrolled." Other Christian schools have adopted this with great success. Our program is designed to accommodate students from birth through their high school graduation, and we want to make it as easy as possible for families to maintain their enrollment. We've heard from families that paying the $200 enrollment fee in one lump by June 1st can be a noticeable strain, especially with multiple children. Many have to wait until the summer months to afford them, which leaves TRCS scrambling to predict our staffing needs. Beginning in February, enrollment fees will automatically be added in $50 increments (per child) to your monthly bill for four months. (You can also choose to pay-in-full or let us know that you do not intend to re-enroll by visiting the office.) Enrollment forms can be updated online each spring.
Again, this will help us to better plan for the coming year AND help our families to better budget for those enrollment fees. Furthermore, enrollment has been growing, and we want to make sure our existing families are able to reserve their spaces for the coming year. (We did have some issues this year with classrooms filling, and we predict it may become more of a problem next year.)
While enrollment fees are typically non-refundable, we will make an exception for families participating in the automatic enrollment if they are moving out of area or facing other difficulty. We appreciate the financial sacrifice that you make to give your children an "academically excellent, culturally relevant and joyfully Christian" education.

A Message From the Early Learning Center
We know that Jesus' presence transforms spaces, places and environment. We have the opportunity to be the living curriculum for
342 enrolled children at Three Rivers Christian Early Learning Center. We recognize that we have the opportunity to capture the attention of all who enter, and through thoughtful preparation provide an excellence in environment that encircles both family and children with the love of Christ Jesus.
We remain committed to an environment that exemplifies excellence as we make the connection between our school philosophy and classroom environment/curriculum. We use an integrated curriculum based on the standards of Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines, providing early learners, parents and teachers a strong foundational resource. Teachers engage in creating places and spaces that support growth and development, a Bible curriculum that is rich in learning, as well as provides social/emotional elements that promote friendships and the understanding of living as a child of God.
It is true -- God has gifted us all with the abilities to imagine, create and serve. What a beautiful response to Christian education; living out the salvation of God. He is able to search our hearts and understand the depth of who we are. God's blessings to you and yours!

Happy Thanksgiving! "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High" (Ps. 92:1). We are so thankful for all of you and the amazing privilege we enjoy coming alongside you in the education of your children. As we enter this Thanksgiving and Christmas season, our hope and prayer is God's abundant blessings for you and your family.
Many veterans attended our recent Veterans Day chapel. Thanks to Sergeant Robinson, we were able to learn a little about the armed services. As students shared their appreciation and prayed for each one of our honored guests, I believe our veterans were truly blessed. We appreciate those of you who have served our country.
Teachers have been holding conferences in the past few days. These times with parents, teachers, and sometimes students getting together and talking are often rich times of connection and communication. As Mr. Lemiere would remind us, the student-school-parent connection is vital for student success. He likened it to a three-legged stool. If even one part is missing, the stool doesn't stand. Thank you, parents, for your support and encouragement in helping your child grow into God's best.
As I passed by a classroom door this past week, I sensed a most delicious smell emanating from the classroom. It smelled just like Thanksgiving! Miss Woodman's first graders were enjoying several stations around the room led by eight adult volunteers. Students created Native American necklaces, costumes, a Pilgrim doll, soap, and they sampled food at the Pilgrim cafe. This is just one example of the great learning taking place on campus. Over and over again I see wonderful teaching and excited learners. I so appreciate the efforts of our teachers and staff. I'm thankful for each of them, for each student, and you!

The month of November has been fast paced and full of activity at the high school campus. We started off the month with the completion of first quarter on November 7th. Grades and comments went out immediately communicating student progress to this point in the year. Second quarter grades should already be available on RenWeb for all students to monitor their progress. We have reminded all students their official transcript grades are the average of first and second quarter grades combined.
Teachers have started an excellent training and book study focused on the evolution of our teaching practices. There has been and continues to be great discussions on how to emphasized collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking in all subject areas. The staff is also working on areas of cross curricular integration with the focus to really develop well rounded students who will impact the world for Christ.
This month also saw the high school campus welcome our middle school students to experience what high school life is like. We had our 6th and 7th grade students visit for two days on the high school campus and go through their normal school day. They also got to enjoy a few unique experiences including chapel with the high schoolers, a tour of the campus, and even a Young Life club.
On the missions front, the Ecuador students worked at the Christmas Bazaar and are cleaning out the barns on the elementary campus to host a future Prom in. The New Orleans trip for grades 8 through 10 has now been created and is beginning to take initial sign ups.

Athletic Director's Message
Moving from Fall to Winter Sports
Unfortunately, by the time you read this newsletter, the TRC Fall awards ceremony will be over. If you were unable to attend here are a few highlights:
The TRCS Cross Country team was awarded Washington State Academic Champs. The award is given to the athletic team with the highest G.P.A. in the state. This is the seventh time a TRCS team has won this prestigious award. TRCS cheer, boys basketball, volleyball and girls tennis have all received this honor. The students at TRC are clearly working hard to achieve "academic excellence." Congratulations coach Kevin and TRCS runners.
The girls volleyball team also achieved a significant award by placing sixth at the state volleyball tournament. There are only 16 teams that make it to the tournament, and only eight trophies. While at the state tournament three TRCS girls received sportsmanship medals: Hannah Cathcart, Danielle Jones, and Selena Carns. Other significant awards won were Columbia Valley All League: Olivia Cathcart, Hannah Cathcart, Kenna Forney and Maddy Parham. The Columbia Valley League M.V.P. was Selena Carns. This is the seventh straight year TRCS girls have made the state tournament. Congratulations coach Lisa and TRCS Lady Eagles!
