Earlier this year, ACP CRIO used the World Café method to gather ideas about what can be done to help Albertans learn about and participate in Advance Care Planning. Advance care planning is a process for communicating a person's future healthcare preferences.

Participants in the World Café included community members from health/disease, seniors/retirement, social/ recreational, legal, faith-based, funeral planning, and other organizations. Their suggestions and concerns have been synthesized into eight recommendations directed towards Advance Care Planning stakeholders, including levels of government, health services, related businesses (e.g. legal, financial, insurance, funeral planning) and community groups.

This is a twelve-month, half-time position from January 2017 to December 2017. The hours of work for this position are flexible. The average total hours of work will be approximately 20 hours per week.

There is an immediate opening for a dependable individual who understands the importance of providing a high quality recreation program to our residents. This person would be responsible for: planning, creating, implementing and evaluating recreation programs for our residents; developing the activities calendar; coordinating the activities of volunteers assisting with programs as well as assisting with meal time service and various outings.

The successful candidate is required to have a Certificate in Recreation Therapy along with at least one year of experience in coordinating recreation programs. Previous experience in working with seniors would be an asset.

As one of the PEGASIS projects, Westend Seniors Activity Centre's awareness campaign is now recruiting volunteer community connectors to reach out to seniors in the community. 

Community Connectors Program reaches out to vulnerable seniors where they live, worship, socialize and learn in their own communities. Volunteers help these seniors identify and access appropriate programs, resources, and services with the ongoing support of the Westend Seniors Activity Centre.
