Encore! BUTI News | Summer 2017
From the Director's Desk

Summer 2017 is one for the books. The class of 432 students was the largest in BUTI's history, and it proved to be an incredibly accomplished group as well. Take a listen to a few highlights of the season.

We offered more than 100 concerts and community performances in eight short weeks, collaborating with the Tanglewood Music Festival and Boston Landmarks Orchestra on projects including Mendelssohn's Incidental Music to A Midsummer Night's Dream, Tanglewood on Parade, and the Opening Night of the summer Hatch Shell concerts in Boston.

The strong student body was nurtured by leaders in the field. Jamie Barton, Joshua Bell, Lynn Harrell, Nico Muhly, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Morris Robinson, Nadia Sirota, and many others joined the core BUTI faculty to challenge these young artists to explore. To listen. To develop in ways they never dreamed possible.

And with fall around the corner, we're not stopping here. We're back to the drawing board, and we're building for the future. Stay tuned!

With appreciation,

Spend the day with Kate, a clarinetist from Colebrook, CT, as she and 19 of her friends in the BUTI Young Artists Wind Ensemble take over Boston. Enjoy as they take a Duck Tour, check out BU, and perform the prelude music at the Opening Night Hatch Shell concert by the Boston Landmarks Orchestra led by conductor Christopher Wilkins (BUTI '72,'73,'74).

A special thank you to the generous  individuals and organizations  who offered support between July 2016 and June 2017. If you haven't already, consider joining BUTI's giving community. Giving a little can grow to a lot, and you'll know you're making a difference every day in the lives of talented young musicians.
