On November 16th, the Greater Toronto Area Agriculture Action Committee (GTA AAC) reflected back on the past 11 years over a special dinner at Black Creek Pioneer Village, in celebration of their final meeting and dissolution.
The GTA AAC has passed a motion that the Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance continue to implement the Action Plan in all areas across the Golden Horseshoe, including the areas formerly covered by the GTA AAC.

Grape vines aren't the only thing that grow deep at
13th Street Winery
, but so too do family roots. The family farm has been in St. Catharines for over 100 years.
On the unique terroir of Niagara, in Ontario's rich wine country, you'll find this celebrated winery that is now co-owned by Doug Whitty and his wife Karen, the third generation to be operating the family farm that was first established in 1908 by Doug's grandfather.

Last month, the Golden Horseshoe Food & Farming Alliance offered comments to the province on the Co-ordinated Land Use Planning Review of the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, the Greenbelt Plan, the Niagara Escarpment Plan and the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan.
This is the first time all of the province's major farm organizations have united to call on the provincial government to freeze urban boundaries to prevent urban sprawl and protect farmland in the Greater Golden Horseshoe.

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is currently accepting enrolment in its Agricultural Leadership Certificate Program. The program may be of great interest to some of our food and farming friends across the Golden Horseshoe.
The program consists of five highly interactive courses designed to assist those who are working within the agricultural sector, whether they are an owner, partner or responsible for the operational or day-to-day functions of the agri-business. The program consists of a collection of leadership, communication, human resources, marketing, public relations and management modules.

recognize the innovative contributions of producers, processors, agri-food organizations and rural communities in Ontario.
