This weekend we celebrate the
Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost and also Rally Day,
when we celebrate the blessings of Christian Education! The theme of our worship will be
“You Have Been Called Into the Fellowship of Jesus Christ Our Lord”
based on
1 Corinthians 1:9.
The Sacrament of the Altar will be celebrated at the Sunday services.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES AT ST. MATTHEW
Youth Director:
Purpose and Objective: To serve the church by developing , coordinating and administering an effective and comprehensive ministry to parish and community youth. focus is internal and external; that is, all community youth; not just parish youth. Full time position-expectation is roughly 40 hours per week with salary and benefits paid by St. Matthew.
Principal/Director of Early Childhood Education:
The candidate will oversee the current Early Childhood Education Program of Preschool (3 and 4) and Kindergarten. The candidate is responsible for all guidelines of the National Lutheran School Accreditation and State of Illinois Guidelines. The candidate will also be engaged in the development and planning of the comprehensive Early Childhood expansion including prekindergarten and two year old program.
FACILITY REQUEST
- Just a friendly note to ask all groups and organizations to please fill out a facility request for your activities. This information assists us in the set up, programming of the electronic doors and the safety of all involved.
CHRISTIAN OUTREACH OF LUTHERANS (COOL) - A food pantry for some of the neediest families in Lake County. Please bring a can of food/box of cereal with you when you worship and place them in Luther Hall. September food is canned fruit. Thanks for helping those in need.

CHRISTMAS IN CHICAGO
– We missed going to the Christkindle Market in Daley Plaza last year due to inclement weather. But we’ll plan on going downtown by train on
Saturday, December 16
and return late afternoon. We’ll enjoy hot chocolate and cookies at the Stammtisch in the Timber Haus for two hours, during which you will also have an opportunity to shop the market. We’ll then have a late lunch at one of fabulous restaurants in the Loop! Cost will be $30 per person, which will cover train fare, the Stammtisch and lunch. Sign up on the Youth Board in Luther Hall.

LUTHERAN DAY SCHOOL NEWS
We happily welcomed our 2 & 3-year-old Preschool class on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This week, our Kindergarten class will continue learning about the 5 Senses, focusing on Taste and Sight, which will include fun learning activities. They continue to practice letter identification by playing Letter Bingo and are also learning different shapes, and making their own 3D shapes from household materials. They have also started the Guided Reading Books and Mrs. Bucciferro has begun introducing iPads to the Kindergartners.
Opening Chapel for both class levels began on Wednesday with Pastor Kinne.
Music classes with Mr. Gagne started on Wednesday, September 6

, and our first Library sessions with Mr. & Mrs. Cooper will begin on Thursday, September 14
