National Dyslexia Awareness Month
Rodriguez family proves that early detection is key

At the Saginaw City Council meeting on September 19, Mayor Todd Flippo presented a proclamation declaring the month of October to be "National Dyslexia Awareness Month."  According to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, approximately 10 percent of children are affected by dyslexia. Early identification is the key to more positive change at a faster pace. Taste of Northwest Champions

EMS ISD participated in the Saginaw Chamber of Commerce's Taste of Northwest Business Expo on October 19 at the Saginaw Recreation Center. The Culinary Arts class from the Hollenstein competed against local restaurants and caterers and placed first in the People's Choice Restaurant category.

In addition, Boswell chemistry won first place for their  slime-making skills in the Judge's Choice Best Booth category. Other EMS groups included robotics, graphic arts, animation, Saginaw theatre, Saginaw yearbook, and Chisholm Trail Spanish students.

Performance groups included the Boswell Jazz Band, Chisholm Trail Ranger Vocal Band, and the Saginaw Starsteppers. Chisholm Trail NHS and AVID students, along with Boswell NHS students and Jazz Band members, volunteered and helped the Chamber keep the event clean with trash and spills duty.
