EAGLES DEMONSTRATE CARITAS CHRISTI THROUGH JOYJARS FOR JESSIE REES FOUNDATION
During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, SM students participated in a JoyChallenge, filling JoyJars with quarters in each classroom. The effort was a resounding success, as students raised $2,900 for the Jessie Rees Foundation, which works to ensure every child fighting cancer has the support and resources to Never Ever Give Up. The funds will make it possible to send 145 JoyJars to children with cancer. JoyJars are filled with toys and activities bringing smiles to children worldwide during their fight. They were developed by 12-year-old Jessie Rees who courageously fought cancer from March of 2011 to January of 2012. Jessie wanted to send hope and joy to her peers fighting cancer.

Emily Furman, Program Relations Coordinator at the Jessie Rees Foundation, conveyed her sincere appreciation to the Eagle community: "You've been a blessing to this Foundation, as well all the families you've helped us to encourage to Never Ever Give Up against childhood cancer battles."

What a beautiful example of Caritas Christi, SM Eagles!
EAGLES DONATE BLOOD TO SAVE LIVES AROUND THE WORLD!

On Thursday, October 19, Santa Margarita Catholic High School and American Red Cross hosted a blood drive on campus in the Moiso Pavilion. Students, faculty and staff had the opportunity to donate their blood to those in need. It was a successful blood drive as there were 69 donors and of those 69 who participated, 34 were first time donors. A total of 63 pints of blood was collected that day.

We would like to thank all those who participated for their time and support. Thank you American Red Cross for helping SMCHS collect and donate their blood. Patients around the globe will benefit from the blood collected at SMCHS.

Sometimes the gift of raising teens comes with a heavy burden to carry. One that we were not meant to carry alone. That's where Moms in Prayer comes in. The ability to pray together and lift our cares and concerns for each other as fellow moms allows us to remember that God is present in all circumstances. We meet weekly for a powerful hour of prayer. Come. Sit. Pray. Trust.

"Moms In Prayer has allowed me to draw closer to God and remind me that I'm not alone in this raising a High School'er phase. There is so much that I found myself trying to carry on my own, when, in fact, Moms In Prayer reminded me that I wasn't meant to ever carry anything alone. I am forever grateful to have prayed with this group for all these years." Melissa

"Praying for all our SM children, teachers and staff in MIP has blessed me with peace. It has been a life-changing experience." Maria
