Bring a Friend to School Day
YC is holding Bring a Friend to School Day on Monday, November 13.  Current students can encourage an interested friend (from dance class, scouts, a sports team, your neighbor or cousin, etc.) to spend the day at YC as a shadow student.  Instead of shadowing with one of our Ambassadors, they can shadow with their friend.  Please have the friend's parent contact Ms. Heather Hoffman at hhoffman@yorkcatholic.org  or 717-846-8871 x220 by Friday, November 3 to set up the visit and to receive a permission slip.  Only students with a real interest in possibly attending YC will be scheduled for this date.
Send Us Your Video
"You Belong at York Catholic" is the theme being used in our marketing to attract new students. We need you to be a part of it!  We're looking for you to share your experience with future YC families and it won't take a lot of your time.

Send us a 20-second (maximum) video that starts with "You Belong at York Catholic because..."  For example, Ms. Hoffman recorded hers and she said, "You Belong at York Catholic because you'll find a great support system that becomes your extended family."  The best videos will be used in upcoming social media posts.

Send videos to info@yorkcatholic.org by November 15. Thanks for your help!
Dress Code Changes Monday

As we end the first quarter of school, we transition our dress code to 2nd quarter regulations beginning Monday, October 30.  Click here for the Student Handbook and go to pages 13-16 for specifics about the dress code.

Sign Up for Parent/Teacher Conferences Now
Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, November 9, from 3:30-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm.  We encourage parents to take advantage of this opportunity to talk with teachers about their student's progress or course of study.  To schedule conferences, click here.  If you have difficulty navigating the website or find that a teacher's schedule is full, please contact Kelsey Kman at kkman@yorkcatholic.org and she will be happy to assist.  We recommend that you schedule without delay as conference slots will fill quickly.
All Saints Mass

All Saints Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 1, at 10:20 AM in the auditorium.  All students will be attending and parents are welcome to join us as well.  This will fulfill the Holy Day of Obligation.
All Souls Commemoration

In the heritage of the Roman Catholic Church,  November 2 has been set aside as a day when we remind ourselves to pray for those who "have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith."  The entire month of November is then dedicated to pray for them and for the healing of memories in their regard.  Faculty and students are invited to submit the names of deceased loved ones to be remembered in prayer throughout the month of November.  Their names will be placed on the altar in the chapel and commemorated during Mass.  If your family wishes to provide additional names to be included in our month-long remembrance and prayer, please email the names to us at  allsouls@yorkcatholic.org  and we will be sure to add them to those already in the chapel.
12th Grade Retreat

The senior class will attend an overnight retreat November 5-6 at the Malvern Retreat Center. This is a great opportunity for students to bond with classmates, spend time in prayer, and truly "retreat" from school and the daily stresses of life.  The retreat will begin Sunday at noon with students returning at approximately 5:00 PM Monday to YC.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Stacey White, Director of Spiritual Life, at 717-846-8871 x236 or swhite@yorkcatholic.org.
Picture Re-takes
Student pictures were distributed in homeroom this week.  Students who were absent on Picture Day or those who wish to have their picture re-taken, should report to the auditorium lobby Tuesday, November 14, at 8:30 AM. Students requesting a re-take should bring their original photo package. There is no charge to have pictures taken or re-taken for your yearbook portrait. If you wish to purchase additional photos, place orders online by going to  www.mylifetouch.com   PRIOR to November 14 and using Picture Day ID# LT217798Q1.

In addition to the portrait photos, Lifetouch also takes candid action shots at sporting events, music events, and school events throughout the school year that are available for purchase.  These photos are posted on the YC website under Current Students-Resources-Photos.

If there is ever an error with your photo order, please contact Lifetouch at 1-800-244-4373.  Their Customer Service Department will be best equipped to correct your order or answer your questions.
Beyond the Books

The YC British Literature class will be traveling to York College tomorrow for a performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by students in the York College Division of Theater. This is a supplement to the content the YC students are currently covering in class.  It's a great opportunity for the pages to come to life while supporting our local educational institutions.
Winter Sports
Paperwork
Students wishing to participate in athletics must submit the following paperwork:
Students MUST submit the paperwork to the athletic director no later than Wednesday, November 8, at 3 PM if they have not already done so for the year.

If a student doesn't submit the paperwork by the deadline, he or she will not be permitted to practice the first day of the season.  For some sports, this could mean the student will not make the team.  Please click here or visit the General Information page of the Athletics section of the website for the proper Physical & Agreement forms.  Contact Mr. Bankos to learn if a valid ImPACT test is on file.

Practices Begin
All winter sports teams will begin practices Friday, November 17.  Check with the team coach or Mr. Bankos for exact times and locations.
Junior High Glow Dance

The 7th & 8th Grade students are invited to the Junior High Glow Dance on Friday, November 3, from 7-9 PM in the cafeteria.  Students are encouraged to " get their glow on" by wearing glow bracelets, necklaces, etc. Cost is $6 in advance and $8 at the door.  Tickets are on sale in homeroom October 30-November 3.

Look for the YC Marching Band at the York Halloween Parade Sunday, October 29, starting at 2 PM at the York Fairgrounds traveling East on Market Street from Richland Avenue to Broad Street in downtown York.
