AgeOptions was recently awarded a continuation grant to support the National Council on Aging (NCOA) nationwide effort to help older adults like Janet who are struggling to buy groceries by applying for SNAP to supplement their food budget.

Enrique Salgado Jr., who was elected to a three-year term on the AgeOptions Board of Directors in October, lives a life of community involvement. "It's been one of my passions since I was 18," he said.

Advisory Council Elects Officers
Joan Strickland, of Calumet City, was elected chair of the AgeOptions Advisory Council, succeeding Nan Anderson. Members also elected Carol Goldbaum vice chair and Jacqueline Jones secretary.

Celebrates South and West Partners
Caring Together, Living Better (CTLB), a partnership of faith-based and community organizations dedicated to supporting those caring for an older adult, celebrated the South and West Suburban CTLB volunteers, caregivers, churches and organizations at two events this year. Both events were sponsored by Cigna.

Receives Statewide Outstanding Caregiver Award
Michael Welch, a Chore Housekeeping staff member of Catholic Charities Northwest Senior Services (CCNW), is one of five recipients of the Illinois Department on Aging's (IDoA) 2017 Outstanding Caregiver Award for Older Americans Act services. AgeOptions funds Chore Housekeeping under Title III of the Older Americans Act.
