Although winter is upon us, it doesn't mean that all the campgrounds are closed for the season. Each year, more and more RV parks and campgrounds open throughout the colder months as snow lovers want to be able to enjoy their winter activities along with a camping trip.
Campgrounds that offer winter facilities are detailed in each listing at Camping & RV in British Columbia.

Ice fishing is often overlooked as a winter activity, especially if you live in southern B.C. But fishing opportunities do not stop when the temperature freezes - they only get more exciting. Ice fishing is a very social sport and requires only a limited amount of gear or experience. The entire lake becomes accessible without the need of a boat and you don't need the often complicated casting techniques required in other fisheries. It's as simple as drilling a hole and dropping a line. Don't winterize that RV just yet; there are many parks open year-round close to great hard water lakes.

BC Parks Scavenger Quest Completed |
This past summer BC Parks, in partnership with the Camping & RVing BC Coalition, launched a fun, new park activity for kids and families called Jerry's Search and Sketch, the Ultimate Scavenger Quest!
Families loved the new activity because their children enjoyed searching the parks and drawing sketches of what they found. The kids also loved the collectable Jerry the Moose pin! The program was also very popular with parks staff as families spent their time exploring the beauty BC Parks has to offer. Families who shared their photos of the completed scavenger quest, either by Facebook or by email, were entered into a draw for a free weekend of camping in BC Parks.
