Dear Friends,
This past weekend I spent 24 hours with two of my dearest friends from college. One was in tremendous pain as she and her husband are going through the messy divorce of their only child and her husband of six years. All my other friend and I could do was listen, pray, and hopefully take on some of their pain. Have you noticed that life on planet earth is sometimes difficult, painful, and not at all the way life is “supposed to be”? Although all of God’s creation reflects the glory of God in many ways, it is also broken by sin. There is nothing that we can see that is not broken in some way.
We long for the way things/people/events “should be” because
we were created for that and
we will experience it in heaven for all of eternity. I love nature and I look forward to seeing the real thing, untainted, and perfect. For now,
Jesus promises to walk with us through the broken place we live. He loves us enough to give us free will and He won’t make us do His will. That is why, despite our prayers, there is divorce, war, divisions, and strife among people.
Our job is to persevere,
rejoice with those who rejoice and
weep with those who weep. These are always
both happening at the same time. I have learned that often what we can give a hurting person is the gift of presence or just being there. No words of mine can change the situation, but
being there ministers. That is such a relief for those of us who want to say the right thing. It is often better not to say anything, just hug and listen.
Are you or someone you love experiencing a rough place? The above picture is a link to our ever expanding
list of helpful books. Many of them are available to borrow here at HCA, on the bookshelf under my office window, on the landing. Please help yourself and return them when finished. There is nothing you or your friends are experiencing that others have not experienced before you. We can learn from each other and from the experts. (Please note the two books by
Cynthia Tobias. She is a very amusing author and quite well known. She will be the keynote speaker at the ACSI Early Childhood Conference in March that is right here at HCA!)
In closing,
we are in it together, walking, skipping or just lying in the dirt at the feet of Jesus. He will pick us up, carry us until healed and guide our every step. I honestly don’t understand how people can make it through life without Him. I thank Him from the bottom of my tainted heart for His love, mercy and help showered on us each day.
In Him who makes us WHOLE,

Asian Adventure Afternoon TOMORROW! Thursday, Oct. 26
th from 1:00-2:30 we are going to share our learning and approach with (hopefully) lots of guests from the Wachusett Public Schools (who have a half day), homeschoolers and anyone else who is interested. We like to have a special event near the end of the term to celebrate and share our learning so we thought we’d share it.
Each class is preparing a forty-five minute activity that shares something they’ve learned about their Asian country this term.
This is how you can help:
- Invite kids and their parents (Use social media, flyers (coming), and word of mouth)
- Parent volunteers to help, at least one per grade- please let the teacher know you are available
- Supplies as needed
- Pray- this is a first time event and we need prayer for success!
Blessings and thankfulness,
Susan Hayward, Principal
