Modernizing Medicine Drives MIPS Performance with the modmed Pledge

Specialty-specific health information technology company Modernizing Medicine, Inc. (based in Boca Raton) recently announced the modmed Pledge to support its clients with the upcoming transition to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and value-based healthcare. Modernizing Medicine's confidence is due to the company's successful track record for Meaningful Use (MU) attestation and Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) - measures that collectively make up 85% of the 2017 MIPS composite score as defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Beginning in January of 2017, physicians' performance will be measured and compared against their peers across a number of different criteria. Providers that exceed the minimum threshold in 2017 can be paid more money versus those that don't. Providers that do not meet the minimum threshold can receive a substantial reduction in Medicare payments.

A new state-of-the-art mobile health unit is making its way to underserved children in South Florida, offering free oral health screenings, assessments and exams, all supported by telehealth connectivity with care providers at Nicklaus Children's main campus.
The 40-foot mobile unit is Nicklaus Children's Hospital's latest endeavor to assist families in need as part of its vision "to be where the children are" in South Florida and beyond.

"We recognize that many children in our community are in critical need of dental screenings and follow up care," said Dr. Narendra Kini, CEO of Miami Children's Health System. Memorial Healthcare System is expanding its scope of neurology services with the newly developed Memorial Brain Health and Memory Center.

Hilary Glazer, MD, a cognitive neurologist at Memorial Neuroscience Institute who specializes in memory, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and the prevention of cognitive decline, will lead the center.
