Malik come to
Camp Aloha after the death of his grandmother, and again after the death of his best friend. The experience changed his life. He realized there were other kids who had lost someone they loved, who shared similar emotions and that there were adults who listened and understood. This year, Malik came to camp again - as a counselor. He wanted to share his experience and help change children's lives.

Golf Tournament rescheduled for December 12
|
Hurricane Matthew played havoc with the golf courses at the Landings, but we finally have a confirmed date for our Golf Tournament presented by USI Insurance Services. It will be held on Monday, December 12 at the Landings Club's Plantation Course.

Tree of Love at Oglethorpe Mall

If you are planning a trip to the mall this holiday season (and who isn't!?), stop by the holiday tree located by the main entrance on Abercorn. Staff, volunteers and friends will be there at various times to give out
paper doves to hang on the tree in memory of loved ones. Donations of any size are accepted!
Pictured is a granddaughter of Mr. Dale Huseman who died under our care last month. Three generations of his family hung doves in memory of both him and his wife, whom the grandkids called Gigi.

Exactly who IS a caregiver?
|
A recent article published by the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging states,
"If you are a caregiver, it probably didn't dawn on you that's what you were until you were well along the caregiver path. And you could remain blissfully unaware as long as things were going well. Over time, however, things changed - dad developed diabetes, your arthritis worsened, mom's memory deteriorated - and you started feeling time crunched, stressed out, drained. And you began asking yourself: What am I doing wrong?"
At our Edel Caregiver Institute we realize that many spouses and children don't self-identify as caregivers. But they are. And they could use help. Find out more about the resources and support we can offer at

We are so grateful to the many volunteers who join us in our mission of providing our community the best services and resources on living with a life-limiting illness, dying, death, grief and loss.
