Thank-you to all the parents, students, staff and neighbours who attended the Welcome Fair last month. And a special thank-you to the numerous volunteers - without you, we couldn't have pulled it off!

We hope to see you at our next event, Managing Meanness by Cultivating Kindness.  The CSPC was successful again this year in securing a Parents Reaching Out grant. We will use the grant to bring in speakers from Arts Express to the school on Tuesday Nov 28 to share strategies and tips that will help parents guide and support their children through difficult social situations while building social confidence and compassion for others. There are 2 parts to this session, one held for the students during the day and one held for the parents/caregivers in the evening.  

During the day
Grades JK-3 - A Literacy storytelling session on choosing kindness, fair play and inclusion
Grades 4-8 - An empowering Hip Hop dance workshop in which the students will reflect on body language and what it says about our own and other's emotions, while learning a community building dance (to be performed for the younger grades if there is time).

In the evening
A 2 hour parent and child workshop in the school gymnasium.
Finance Update
Thank you to the parent community who have donated to the St Cyril Foundation. Your Donation Dollars are already hard at work enriching student's school experience by providing financial support for:
  • Field Trip Transport
    • $2,500 to date for Gr. 3- 8 Cross Country Competition, Gr. 1-2 Mississauga Living Arts Centre, Gr. 3 Kortright Centre, Gr. 7-8 Stratford Trip
  • Student Agendas
    • $1,600, Providing students Gr 1 -8 with an agenda is a crucial tool for parent/teacher communication and teaching organization
      and responsibility.
  • Classroom Support
    • each St. Cyril teacher will receive funding to directly support their classroom with new supplies, tools and resources to further engage students.

How to Donate: 

  •  Attach a cheque payable to St Cyril Catholic School Foundation and submit to your child's teacher.
  • Donate through United Way Company sponsored programs. If your company matches your United Way donation, consider choosing St Cyril School Foundation (Charity # 856362348RR0001) and possibly double the donation

Other Updates

Spirit Wear -  The order forms for the Spirit Wear will be sent home with the students. If you don't receive it, here's an electronic copy for download: Spirit Wear Order Form . We ask that you return the form/cheque to your child's teacher by Oct 31.

With the St. Cyril Panthers Spirit Wear order forms coming soon, don't forget to label your items to ensure your child comes home with theirs. Many people use Mabel's Labels as a simple and effective way to identify their child's belongings. St. Cyril is now listed as a partner school when ordering from Mabel's. If you plan to order labels then be sure to select our school, this will direct 20% of proceeds towards our school.

Also coming soon, we are holding a raffle for a pair of Maple Leaf hockey tickets! Keep on the lookout for the form that will be sent home with students. Money raised will go to the purchasing of CD players for the classrooms.
