Please join the Dramatists Guild for a Friday Night Footlights™, San Francisco reading of The Original Joke, a new play by Indi Riverflow.
The Original Joke? Surely you jest!
Have you heard the one about The Original Joke? No? Well, three goddesses quarrel over an apple, and drama ensues. Guess you had to be there...and now you can be! For the first time ever, leaping from the page to the stage before your very ears!
It's a seedy tale of grit and glory. Nostalgia and novelty clash across three dimensions, as the future of music and magic hangs in the balance. Cassandra, Jack, and Demi are on the precipice of success with their new album, Rorschach Mumble. But can the band survive the lure of Echo Chambers and the Hype Machine?
Meanwhile, the dreamers of La-La Land wake to a dry, grave reality, mournful for the good old days of greener grass and heady tunes, when King Mobius summoned the clouds and crowds with the magical six-stringed Spellweather. Wealth, wit and vanity vie for the prize, as Jack Cadillac arrives at the Crossroads, an unlikely guitar hero with the power to restore the rain.
The Original Joke is a symbol-minded send-up and full-length meta-uber-surreal fantasy soapstone sculpture.

Air Lift Underground is:
Amana Mission: protagonist, publisher, and production manager, is the symbiotic satirist who wears many hats and shifts between layers of reality to materialize the ephemeral, metastasize the intangible, and co-direct our orchestra of oddballs. Amana is on a mission to bring seeds to fruition. She is an expert nasal gazer, and some say she invented the pun.
Indi Riverflow: the gonzo bonkers ghost writer who channeled the script from the ether, using high-tech Ouija technology. The playwright was previously author of a trilogy of novels, three volumes of lyric verse, and a book of radical political essay, before finally settling on a more dramatic medium. Indi is committed to this vision, and to staying out of the rubber room this time.
We'll be joined by acting actors: Kaanii Powell Cleaver, Dr. Nathan "Crazy Bear" Josephs, Diana Tenes, Howard Redding, and everybody's favorite star-To B. Announced. Special thanks to 3Girls Theatre, Integritea, and Still Point Productions for waking the dream.
