With all the recent media coverage of sexual assault and abuse, it's empowering to see so many victims and survivors come forward. Millions of women and men worldwide have joined voices through  #MeToo. Public figures have spoken up against  Harvey Weinstein, Terry Richardson and  Roman Polanski. Survivors have shared powerful statements, including Olympic medalist McKayla MaroneyLupita Nyong'o and Terry Crews, to name a few.

The cultural shift in the last few weeks has been notable. A culture that believes victims, that allows victims to come forward without fear of retaliation or blame, that holds perpetrators accountable - this is what we need now more than ever! This is how we make a lasting impact today and tomorrow.

That's why we at ChicagoCAC do what we do, every day, for victims of child sexual abuse. We believe them, protect them and help them heal. We equip adults to prevent abuse. We ensure that adults recognize the signs and know how to help. We take the power away from predators.

Join us in making a difference today, right now:
  • Get informed. If you don't already know the warning signs of child sexual abuse, or how to talk to your kids about bodily safety, there's no better time. View our resources now, or bring our trainings to your colleagues, parent group or community group.
  • Speak out. Don't let misinformation, harmful comments or harassment slide - ever. Stand up for the facts about abuse, and if anyone tells you that they've been abused or assaulted, believe them and give them the support they need.
  • Get involved. Join us for A Walk in Their Shoes on November 9 to learn more about us and how you can help children and families healing from abuse, right here in Chicago.
Sincerely,

Char Rivette, MSW, LCSW
