Salt to the Sea is the November Selection for our Book Group. New Members Always Welcome! Group to Meet November 20, 10:15 AM
The November selection for our book group is Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys.
With the same lyrical prose, eye for detail, and breath-stopping ability to unfold delicate layers of characterization and theme with skillfully paced revelations, the author of Between Shades of Gray (2011) and Out of the Easy (2013) presents a fictionalized World War II story based on a true tragedy. In alternating narratives, four different teens grapple with the bitter cold, the ever-present danger of falling bombs, and their own dark secrets.

Job Corps is the nation's largest and most comprehensive residential education and job training program for at-risk youth, ages 16 through 24. Job Corps combines classroom, practical, and work-based learning experiences to prepare youth for stable, long-term, high-paying jobs. A representative from Job Corps will be at the Library on November 16th to talk about programs offered.
The Ladybug Picture Book Award is designed to promote early literacy and honor the best in recent children's picture books and is chosen by a vote of New Hampshire children from preschoolers to those in third grade each November.
This exhibition showcases recent watercolors and gelatin prints. Many are
painted either plein air (out in the field) or from my photographs. These days my
goal with art work is to enjoy the process, and not stress that it isn't good enough.
I am pleased to be showing these happy little pieces to all of you. I hope you
enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them! Jay Rancourt
