CHD Faculty and Staff Attend and Present at the AUCD 2016 Conference
 
The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) 2016 Conference is an opportunity for sharing knowledge with colleagues from all over our national network. Several staff and faculty attended and presented at this year's conference focused on navigating change through building relationships. Julie Atkinson, Karen Ward, and partners from the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities presented the poster "Changing Social Norms and Building Relationships: Improving Socio-Sex ual Health for Individuals with Intellectual and Related Developmental Disabilities through Community-Based Training." Virginia Miller presented the poster "Interdisciplinary Academic Partnerships: Interdisciplinary Exploration o f Alaska's Critical Behavioral Health Issues." Karen Heath was a presenter on the panel " Role of Developmental Disabilities Network Partners to Support Employment Systems Change in the Partners hips in Employment Project." Julie Atkinson, Rebekah Moras, and Katie Lancaster (Wyoming) also led the annual Disability and Sexual Health Special Interest Group meeting.

UAA Receives Mamava Lactation Pod
A UAA team led by the Department of Health Science's Dr. Corrie Whitmore received the Level 1: Lactation Pod Award from the Alaska Workplace Breastfeeding Support Project. The Mamava Lactation Pod will arrive in the UAA Student Union during the Spring 2017 semester, as part of a larger effort to increase workplace breastfeeding in the state.
 
Mark Your Calendars! MPH Alumni Meet and Greet to Take Place January 18
 
The MPH Alumni Association is excited to invite alumni, current students, faculty, staff, and friends of the program to join us for the Annual MPH Alumni Meet and Greet this January 18 at Williwaw. It will take place from 5:30-7 pm, following the last afternoon session at the ALPHA Health Summit. Come learn more about the MPH Program and what our alumni have planned for the upcoming year. Congratulations to Beverly Khodra, Recipient of the AK WWAMI Director's Award 

WWAMI student Beverly Khodra receives the 2016 Alaska WWAMI Director's Award. According to Jane Shelby, Director of the Alaska WWAMI School of Medical Education, "Beverly has blossomed in Foundations, she became confident, a class leader and mature influence in the class, and very supportive of younger students." Congratulations Beverly!

Justice Center Faculty Present at American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting

Dr. Cory Lepage and Dr. Marny Rivera

and Lindsey Blumenstein presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Criminology in New Orleans in November. The theme of the conference was "The Many Colors of Crime & Justice." Drs. Rosay and Myrstol Present at the 15th Annual National Indian Nations Conference
 
Dr. André Rosay, Justice Center Director, and Dr. Brad Myrstol, Justice Center faculty, recently presented at the 15th National Indian Nations Conference. Drs. Rosay and Myrstol joined a panel of experts at a day-long workshop to discuss "National Institute of Justice Sponsored Research Initiatives in Indian Country and Alaska Native Villages." Legal Studies Alumni Update: Lisa Winzenburg
 
Lisa Winzenburg , Paralegal Studies Certificate '14, is the Legal Assistant and Area Credit Manager for the Alaska Region of Builders First Source/Spenard Builders Supply in Anchorage. Her job involves managing delinquent accounts, securing bad debts, legal collections, and fraud/theft suppression, reviewing contracts, and working with surety bond claims and payment/performance bond claims.
