On November 3rd, 2016, students from Bloom-Carroll High School had the opportunity to travel to Europe on an eight-day whirlwind tour visiting Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and London. French teacher, Carrie Eggleston, along with five adult chaperones, accompanied 21 Bloom-Carroll students as they traveled throughout some of Europe's most famous sites.

Three 8th grade teams from Bloom-Carroll Middle School competed in the Ohio FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Competition on Saturday, November 19th in Granville, Ohio.  BC Team Heroes & Puns qualified at the FLL competition and will be advancing to the Regional competition at OSU Newark on January 7th, 2017.  Also receiving an award in Granville was Trevor Evans. Trevor was honored with the Gracious Professionalism Award for assisting another team when they had difficulties with their robot during the competition.   (Full Story and Additional Pictures)

The Bloom-Carroll Elementary PTO donated $13,500 to the primary and intermediate schools this fall for the purchase of technology. The PTO worked with both building principals and the district's IT Director to determine the best use of this donation. Bloom-Carroll Primary School received 30 iPad Air 2's along with a central charging cart, while Bloom-Carroll Intermediate School received Dell Laptops to complete an ongoing laptop cart project already started. The NED Show traveled to BCIS on Wednesday, December 9th. The NED Show is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have life-long relevance: 1) Never give up 2)  Encourage others and 3) Do your best.

The assembly provided our students the opportunity to learn about NED's message while enjoying storytelling, magic, humor, and yo-yo tricks. (Full story and additional pictures)

Parents were invited to take part in a 15-question technology survey during the month of November. Survey questions were designed by the districts technology team and the results will be used to help construct the district's three-year technology plan. This plan will help guide the Board of Education members, and the IT department when making decisions about technology in our schools. You can view the entire survey results here.
