MP Profile
Meet Samantha Trevitt, MP's art teacher. She has been married to her husband, David, for 12 years, and they have two sons, Greyson (7) and Benjamin (4). They also have two dogs, Summer and Murray. Mrs. Trevitt has been at MP for 6 years, and when asked what she likes most about her job, she said she loves her students. "I learn as much from them as they do from me - sometimes more." Her hobbies include reading, yoga, playing outside, painting, and spending time with her family. If she could go back in time, she would like to go back to between 1964 and 2005 so she could hug her Aunt Lisa again. If she did not have to sleep, she would use the extra time for art and reading. When people come to her for help, they usually need help with "various creative endeavors." Her family has influenced her life the most because they are "the world's best support system." She said that overthinking keeps her up at night, and that she has suffered from her art. "I got a splinter stuck in my eye while working on a basket made of wooden reeds when I was in college."

Thompson Places in Art at GA National Fair

division at the Georgia National Fair's Youth Art Competition.

Students Demonstrate Understanding
of the Bill of Rights
Ms. Duncan's Government students used magazines to create a visual representation showing their understanding of one of the Bill of Rights.
Students Compare Adult Brain & Teenage Brain
Ms. Duncan's Psychology students wrote essays comparing the
similarities and differences between the adult brain and teenage brain and how now knowing this information can help them better understand themselves. They were provided with 3 articles and a documentary and worked in small groups to brainstorm and bounce ideas off of each other before beginning the writing process.

1st Year Engineering Catapults
Students made 2 catapult designs to test for accuracy, power,
and a combination of both! They will analyze various math concepts
though the results of their testing.

Access Mixedbag Fundraiser
The Access Department at MP is doing a Mixed Bag Designs catalog fundraiser. Students will use the proceeds to buy groceries for cooking instruction, go see
a play at the Rose Theatre, host a Holiday social for their families, and to go
to Prom!
Available items include tote bags, purses, and home & garden items. Mixed Bag products are afforable, attractive, and durable!
Orders can be placed with any student or staff member for the MP Access Department or you can order online at
MixedBag using the code 242287 at checkout.
Orders are due October 27. Checks should be made payable to MPHS.

Senior Recognition Ads
are on sale now. The last day to purchase a senior ad in the yearbook is November 3rd. Spaces are limited, first come, first served.

Bulldog Blessings
Adopt-A-Senior 2018 is a new program sponsored by the Bulldog Blessings.
Senior year is expensive, and we're asking our local organizations, groups and citizens to chip in and adopt some of our seniors who are in need of support. Our goal is that ALL MP Grads experience the full memory of their senior year and don't have to skip out on any activities due to cost.

MP Cinch Bags Fundraiser for Bulldog Blessings
The counseling department is selling MP Cinch Bags for $10 as a fundraiser for our Bulldog Blessings fund. All of the proceeds will go directly to our neediest students allowing us to purchase school supplies, toiletries, blankets, coats, technical college application fees, special school events, etc.
Creations by CHAMP can add a name for an additional $5.00.

ASVAB Adminstration
Students who wish to join the military will need to take the ASVAB. The ASVAB will be given at MP on
November 9th.
A Google Doc will be sent to student's school email accounts. Please
register by October 31st. Students must register using their school email accounts. All branches of the military require this test.

ACT & SAT Information
Students who are planning to attend a four year college, must take the SAT or ACT and obtain qualifying score. Mary Persons
is a testing site for BOTH tests. We are able to provide waivers only to juniors or seniors who participate in the free/reduced lunch program. Eligible students can see their counselor or Mrs. Miller to receive fee waivers.
SAT Registration: Go to www.collegeboard.org to register for the SAT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $46.00 (no writing) or $60.00 with writing.
ACT Registration: Go to www.actstudent.org to register for the ACT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $42.50 (no writing) or $58.50 with writing.

Attention Seniors
The FAFSA® is the application that students must complete to apply for federal student aid, which can be used to attend an eligible college or career school. Federal student aid includes Federal Pell Grants, federal student loans, and work-study opportunities. In addition to determining eligibility for federal student aid, many states, private organizations, colleges, and career schools rely on information from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for nonfederal sources of aid.
ALL students must complete this form regardless of parent income. The 2018 FAFSA application is now open.

On Thursday Best Buddies members participated in the Homecoming parade.
On Friday Best Buddies hosted a tailgate before the Homecoming game. Members and their families enjoyed food and fellowship before watching the Bulldogs beat West Laurens!

FBLA News
FBLA is once again collecting hygiene products for iCare to help needy students in Monroe County. Bring any hygiene products (soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes/paste, etc.) to Mrs. Little or Mrs. Myers on the Main Campus or Ms. Sparks on the Freshman Campus.
Get your DQ Blizzard every Thursday immediately after school in Room 227. They are $2 each.
Next Meeting - October 25 @ 3:15 in Room 227. Plan to attend and bring a friend.
Heritage Candle and Boston Butt
fundraisers begin October 25. See an FBLA member or adviser to get your candle or Boston Butt. Heritage Candles are handmade in the USA and burn for approximately 75 hours, keeping their scent to the very bottom. Boston Butt certificates are good for one year, and they can be redeemed at Welch's Meats beginning December 1, 2017.
