The community is invited to attend the annual Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead festival on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. on the quad. The event is free and open to the public and regularly draws more than 1,000 people to campus. Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday devoted to celebrating and remembering those who have passed. The departed are honored through beautiful handmade ofendras, which means offerings in Spanish. These ofendras are elaborate altars, adorned with photos, flowers and foods and will be on display throughout the quad. The event will also feature DJ's, Aztec dancers, a Folklorico dance group and food.

Guided Pathways Work Underway at Fullerton College
Fullerton College is participating in a statewide effort to establish a guided pathways program. The California Guided Pathways project encourages the 114 California community colleges to implement integrated, college-wide approaches to student success by creating structured educational experiences that support each student from point of entry to attainment of high-quality postsecondary credentials and careers. Fullerton College's Student Success Committee is currently acting as a work group to develop and submit a guided pathways plan early next year for the college. Coffee with the Trustees, Chancellor: Oct. 26
The college community is invited to attend the upcoming Coffee with the Board of Trustees and Chancellor at Fullerton College on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 9 a.m. in Building 200, Rooms 224-228. The coffee is an informal and open discussion where guests may ask questions or just listen to the conversation. NOCE will host a coffee on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 3:30 p.m. at the Anaheim Campus 105/107 and Cypress College will host a coffee on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1 p.m. in the CC Complex 414.

Health Services will sponsor a Wellness Symposium on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Building 200, Rooms 224, 226 and 228. New College Program to Integrate Portable Measuring Arms and More
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announced that its portable and stationary coordinate measuring machine technologies will be integrated into a new metrology program offered at Fullerton College, which has one of the largest machinist programs in the state. Students gain practical experience in metrology using Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence products like the Romer Absolute Arm.

Debate Team Takes First Place in Community College Sweepstakes
The Fullerton College Speech and Debate Team participated at the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University on Oct. 7 and 8. The Hornet team finished first place in the community college debate sweepstakes division. This award is determined based on the collective success of a debate program entered in the tournament. Fullerton College bested local schools such as Irvine Valley, Palomar and Orange Coast colleges.

The semester is more than halfway through. The last day to increase or decrease variable-unit classes is Nov. 17 and the last day to withdraw from classes is Nov. 19. With the 1967 Hornet Championship team, along with many alumni in the stands for homecoming, the #1 Fullerton College football team made them all proud blowing past #17 Saddleback College 56-35 at Yorba Linda High's Nathan Shapell Stadium on Saturday.

The FC men's soccer team lost their third game in a row on the road Friday against Irvine Valley College 3-1.

The Hornets lost at home to Cypress College on Friday night in a close match 3-2.

Men's Water Polo
The Hornets played at the Santa Monica Mini-Tourney on Friday winning one and losing one. In the first game, Fullerton won big over Rio Hondo 19-11, but then lost the second to Santa Monica 13-11.

Women's Water Polo
Fullerton won two games and lost two at the Battle at the Beach Tourney hosted by Long Beach City College. On Friday, FC opened up with a loss to Citrus College 15-12, but then beat Cuesta College 10-3. On Saturday, the Hornets beat Cypress College 12-3 but lost to Mt. San Antonio College 14-9.
Up Next: FC will play at Santa Ana College for an OEC match-up on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m.
Women's Golf
Fullerton's women's golf team once again placed third on Wednesday with a score of 391 in an Orange Empire Conference match at Tustin Ranch. Saddleback took first finishing the day with a score of 363, and Irvine Valley placed second with a score of 371.
Up Next: Fullerton will get back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 25 for another OEC event at Arroyo Trabuco at 11 a.m.

Art Gallery Presents: Culturally Displaced

Fullerton College and the Fullerton College Art Gallery are proud to exhibit a selection of works from the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation. The exhibit titled Culturally Displaced: Selections from the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation will run from Oct. 26 - Dec. 12, with a free Opening Reception on Oct. 26 from 5 - 8 p.m.

Join the Art Department for a sketch crawl during the Fullerton College Dia De Los Muertos Celebration! All are welcome to enjoy sketching the event along with our faculty and students. The holiday will be celebrated with music, dancing, and elaborate altars adorning the quad from 6 to 10 p.m. The event is open to the community. Meet up at the Art Gallery in the 1000 building at 6 p.m. to see the new exhibit, then head out to the quad for the Dia De Los Muertos celebration.
