In honor of Buyamba's founder, the late Pastor Bethuel Dongo, God Cares School in Uganda held their second annual Dongo Run. Participation was open to students, staff, and community, and close to 1,000 people showed up at God Cares High School to run the race! This 7K run took place days before the second anniversary of our founders passing. The day was full of fun as there were prizes, food, and games for all, and people gave testimonies of how Pastor Dongo and the Buyamba Ministry have impacted their lives.

It's already that time of year again ... time to get your Christmas Baskets! These baskets were such a blessing last year to the students and their families, the staff in Uganda said we must do it again!

In case you're not familiar with our Christmas Baskets...

The idea behind the Christmas Basket is simple ... instead of your Christmas gift to your child being used for one person, your donation is shared with the child's entire family! We're excited to give these to the students to bless their family at the end of this term.

November 20 is the deadline
to donate a Christmas Basket to your child or another child in need. Each basket is $35 and it includes staple ingredients like flour, sugar, rice, beans, fruits and veggies that will be used by the family for the entire school term. This is truly a blessing for all for often it is difficult for families to provide enough food for all when all the children are home for break.

Announcing the Winner of the Buyamba's 4th Annual Photo Contest!

The winner of this year's photo contest is (drum roll please) Heather Rogers! Congratulations!

The photo of these smiling faces was taken this past summer when Heather and her daughter visited God Cares School in Uganda for their first time with The Met Church Team.

Thank you to all who participated! In case you're visiting Uganda on a mission trip next year, be sure to prepare for next year's contest.

We love our photo entries! To see all the photos submitted this year and from past years, visit our website.

Update on the Bethel Dongo Assembly Hall

Because of the generosity of overall giving in 2017, the walls have continued to go up on the Bethuel Dongo Assembly Hall. Much of the outside of the hall (the shell) is completed. There are a finished group of 4 rooms being used as a senior girls' dormitory (that will one day be teachers' quarters) and two additional rooms being used for medical/nurses station that offers 24-hour medical care. This building will be the hub of school and community life at God Cares High School. It will function as an official testing facility, chapel, future gym, performing arts classroom, and will also be a long-term sustainability project, for this huge building can be rented out to host conferences and national competitions...this will build a greater awareness of the school.

As Ezra Dongo said, "This will put us on the map! ... Which will help us with more interest the high school."

Estimated Quote to Completion: $50,000
