Letter from the President: Sean Roark, CPIM
|
|
And the Winner is...IMA!
Our election for at-large seats on the IMA board has concluded, and I am very pleased to welcome a dynamic group of members as they begin their three-year-terms commencing August 1st of this year. It's a great pleasure to welcome back
Heather Abbott from Powerhouse Brands Consulting, who was re-elected to a second term. In addition, we are pleased to have three members elected to their first term as at-large members:
- David Boodey, CPIM, DataDirect Group, RepLink;
- Betsi Bowman, Blackhawk Network, who served as a SIG-designated board member while EVP and President of IGCC; and
- Marc Matthews, Pulse Experiential Travel, who is stepping up from active involvement at the SIG level into this new position.
These four members continue to demonstrate a great blend of interest from our different SIGs, and enhance the balance that makes IMA such a powerful unified voice representing the common message of the diverse and versatile incentive industry: incentive programs work.
There is no better representation of this foundational truth than the IMA Summit. There will be great education, tremendous keynote speakers, and some incredibly fun networking opportunities in Orlando, July 24-26 at the Disney Grand Floridian! There will be exciting evening events where we will take over part of Epcot on Monday and strike up some fun with Target at Splitsville in Disney Springs on Tuesday! We anticipate referring overflow attendees to alternate hotels in the near future
. Please register and make your reservations now to ensure you are in the middle of the experience!
While at the Summit, be sure to look up our four newly elected board members, and congratulate them!

Integrated Marketing and Public Relations Efforts Increase Results for IMA, Strategic Industry Groups and Chapters
|
|
The IMA's integrated marketing and public relations approach is increasing visibility for the business benefits of incentives and why IMA members are the best resource regarding this topic. In the past few months IMA and SIG members have been featured in national magazines and trade publications. Newly developed media relationships are also providing more opportunities for IMA members to reach key business decision makers. Educational presentations and marketing opportunities at industry trade shows are taking IMA's messages to hundreds of promotional product professionals and meeting and event planners.
|
The education program at the Summit is almost finalized. See the line-up on our
Summit webpage. For now, checkout the two great
Keynote Presentations, including Josh Lifrak, Director of the Mental skills Program for the Chicago Cubs and the Disney Institute's"Disney's Approach to Quality Service".
Networking Opportunities
Thanks to IGCC and Target Gift Cards' support, we have two amazing evening events planned for Summit attendees. On Monday, July 24 join us for an evening at Epcot with a dessert reception and viewing of Epcot's
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth fireworks show. Following the fireworks, Summit attendees will have an exclusive, after-hours opportunity to take a ride on
Soarin. Then, on Tuesday evening it will be time to pull out the bowling shoes as we're heading to Splitsville at Disney Springs!
Travel
The Summit is a short six weeks away! If you still have travel arrangements to wrap up, Disney reservations to make or meetings to confirm, now is the time to do so. You can find hotel and other travel information on our website. There are still rooms available at the Grand Floridian resort & Spa. If you have questions on reservations please contact Katie Benson at kbenson@incentivemarketing.org.

|
|
IMEX America 2017 planning is underway. The 2017 event will be held October 10-12 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas.
IMA is offering to share its booth with interested IMA members. Each year IMA and the companies who share our booth find great success at this event.
We have filled the original booth which is the same size as last year's but we can still expand the booth to accommodate up to four more booth partners.
Costs for booth (includes space, display cases, counters, graphics, electricity, and more)
$7,500 with a commitment and deposit of $1,000 by August 1st
$7,750 with a commitment made after August 1st
Last year nearly 12,000 visitors attended the IMEX America conference. Every one of our booth partners was able to pre-schedule one-on-one appointments with potential buyers. The IMA staff supported booth partners to ensure that they took full advantage of the promotional opportunities associated with exhibiting at IMEX.
2017 Committed Partners:
- Bulova
- Citizen Watch Company
- Nike Gift Cards
- Pulse Experiential Travel
- RPG Card Services
- Top Brands
If you are interested in participating in a booth with IMA, please email IMA's Executive Director, Karen Wesloh at

Recognize Safe Performance to Strengthen your Culture
ISHN Article by Rebekka Rea
Prior to the 1880s, little is known about safety conditions in the workplace. In 1893 Congress passed the Safety Appliance Act, which mandated the use of newly developed equipment that decreased the risk of train-related accidents and deaths. For the railroads, this not only improved safety but also increased productivity. It was the first federal law intended primarily to improve work safety, and by 1900, accidents to trainmen had dramatically decreased.
