"Knowing that I'm helping so many people, some struggling for their lives, brings happy tears to my eyes (only partially because of onions). And as I think about colleges and what I want to do with my life, my only thought is 'how can I help people while doing this?" -Teen Chef
Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm so thankful for the opportunities you make available to teens here at Ceres every day. They learn how to grow and cook healthy foods, and they discover how delicious they are. They gain the skills they'll need to be successful in their first job: showing up on time, looking for what needs to be done, working as part of a team. And they feel a sense of belonging and importance at Ceres and in their community.
Thank you for joining with me in empowering our next generation of leaders.
As we head into the holiday giving season, please consider supporting Ceres. Every dollar you give not only shapes the lives of the youth who volunteer--it also gets healing meals into the homes of local families dealing with cancer and other devastating illnesses.
A Ceres meal is specifically designed to nourish a client and her family. This holiday season, your donation lets our clients know that you care, and lets our teens know you believe in them.
Please join me in creating a healthier world--one teen, one client, one healing meal at a time.
In Gratitude,
Cathryn Couch
Founder & Executive Director

On November 29th, join the national day of generosity,
#GivingTuesday. Across the nation, tens of thousands of people will participate. Will you be a part of it? Make a donation to your favorite nonprofit, tell people why you donate or volunteer, and post your fun "un-selfie" to inspire your friends and family to join in this day focused on making the world a more caring and connected place for all.
Our teens and clients need you! Please help us provide a safe, supportive environment for teens to thrive. Every
donation or volunteer hour you give does that AND gets the healing meals they lovingly prepare into the homes of our neighbors in health crisis.
A gift to Ceres is an investment in community health and caring.
How can you join in? Here are a few simple ideas:

Gratitude from a Teen
|
"I love the people. Ceres is such a coming together of people from so many different backgrounds and social settings. And yet everyone is welcomed. I have made so many friends here that I never would have otherwise. And the fact that we get to work together to provide life-saving meals (literally) for those in need makes it all the more powerful."

Eating Well During the Holidays
by Thais Harris, NC
Nutrition Education Manager, Ceres Community Project
It's that wonderful time of year when people come together to give thanks, celebrate the year that has passed and welcome the New Year ahead. As beautiful and jolly as this time can be, it can also be filled with stress, anxiety and sadness (which the cold, shorter days can make worse). There are many different ways to cope with whatever the holidays and winter bring us, and one way that we can all relate to is food. When it comes to eating this time of year, we need to be mindful of our daily choices, and be prepared for the parties and offerings from our friends, family and work environment.
