The morning started out a little cloudy with a chance of afternoon
showers, but ended gorgeously with a slight breeze.  The format today was a tough one, modified alternate shot, with no team breaking par; it was anyones game.  The 2017 Mixed Team Champions, Chad and Kadi Meldrum, were able to maintain their momentum from round one into the final round to win their 4th Championship title.  The Meldrum's shot a two-over 73 for a two day total of 143 to edge out Shawn and Lea Venable by 3 shots.  Ron and Marissa Clontz rounded out the top three in the First Flight of the Championship Division.  

Winning the Second Flight of the Championship Division was the team of Mike Ramsey and Nancy Dodge posting a 77-82=159 edging out Raymond/Suzanne Lott and Chris/Liz Scheuer both posting a two day total of 160.
Julie Flynn and Nick Avery
State Division
Champions

Taking home their first Mixed Team Senior Championship is Nick Avery and Julie Flynn.  After having a great first round to secure a 3 shot lead going into the final round. Team Avery/Flynn edged out the championship by one shot with a 67-76=143 total.  Following close behind was Charlie and Niza Hall posting a 71-73=144.  Finishing third was the duo of Leigh Coulter and Ken Taylor, Coulter hit it to 5' on the par 3, hole 3 leaving Taylor the down hill slider he drained for birdie.  Finishing 4th was Danny Stubbs and Natalie Huff.  Also almost acing the par 3 third hole was Steven Southern sticking it to 6".

Taking home the championship in the Second Flight of the Senior Division was Joseph and Betty Armbruster posting double hockey sticks (77) for both rounds having a two day total of 154.  Followed up by Patrick Luskey and Linda Johnson in 2nd, Steven and Deb Kermisch 3rd, and Dean and Carolyn Gosnell 4th.

After being in a six team tie for first going into the final round of the Third Flight of the Senior Division, Kirk and Sybil Davis pulled out the victory shooting low round in their flight for the day an 84-77=161.  Jim and Cathy Liggett came in second with a two day total of 166.  Rounding out the top four was the team of Charley Gibbs and Teddy Stockwell - 3rd and Jay and Sandy Bland in 4th.

Another successful WSCGA/SCGA Mixed Team Championship in the books at the beautiful Fripp Island.  120 players coming together to play a game friendly to all amongst nature. Thank you Fripp Island for being a big part in making this year possible.  Until next year.....just remember.....
