INCOMPAS Show Delivers Valuable Networking Connections and Insights into Industry Trends
Rep. Anna Eshoo speaks with INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering during the opening night keynote.
Last week at The INCOMPAS Show featuring the NEDAS Symposium, business and policy leaders from  internet and competitive network providers, and their vendor partners, gathered in San Francisco to network, make new business contacts and learn about the latest trends impacting their companies.

During the Sunday night keynote, Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) emphasized how competition, fostered by the Telecommunications Act of 1996, has fueled the innovation that is now driving our economy and creating opportunities that were not even considered 20 years ago. But, she warned that actions now being taken in Washington, D.C., threaten to rollback these advances.

Throughout the show, attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the latest happenings related to Net Neutrality; trends in converged network solutions, SD-WAN and SDN; network deployment opportunities and impediments, as well as host of sessions on small cell and DAS that were a part of the collocated NEDAS Symposium. To download presentations, go to the schedule and click on the session(s); available presentations will on the respective sessions pages.

For coverage and news from San Francisco, download the October 16 and October 17 editions of The INCOMPAS Show Daily.

(L-R) Dane Jasper, CEO and co-founder of Sonic; Tom Tarantino, senior public policy manager at Twitter; and Chris Riley, director of Public Policy for Mozilla; participate in a panel discussion about Net Neutrality.

Exhibitor kiosks greet attendees as they entered the exhibit hall.

Deal making - at the Deal Center, as well as during the Buyers Forum and networking times - was a central focus at The INCOMPAS Show.
INCOMPAS Submits Reply Comments in Commission's
Slamming/Cramming Proceeding
INCOMPAS filed reply comments in the FCC proceeding on protecting consumers from unauthorized carrier changes (slamming) and related unauthorized charges (cramming). INCOMPAS noted that it "supports the Commission's efforts to protect consumers and target carriers using fraudulent methods to verify carrier changes or add unauthorized charges onto a consumer's bill."

However, INCOMPAS encouraged the Commission to not mandate a PIC freezes or require "double checks" by executing carriers, as those requirements would impede competition and competitive choice.
INCOMPAS Welcomes Introduction of the SPEED Act
Last week, Sens. Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) introduced the " Streamlining Permitting to Enable Efficient Deployment of Broadband Infrastructure Act of 2017" (SPEED Act, S.1988), which would remove regulatory barriers to the deployment of wireless networks.

"Faster economic growth requires faster networks. Building the next generation of 5G holds the promise of greater competition, and with that competition, faster speeds and lower prices," said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering. "By removing barriers to expanding 5G and small cells, the SPEED Act will help promote economic growth and create much-needed competition in the wireless market. We look forward to working with Sen. Wicker, Sen. Cortez Masto and Congress to support this pro-competition policy."
