The focus will be on fun, engaging activities that work on a players ability to maintain possession, elude pressure, make and receive accurate passes, understand spacing and finish strongly. Beverly and OT have years of experience working with youth players through their association with Beast Mode Soccer and participation in Seattle Reign summer camps. 

The camp will run on Wednesday afternoons on the Islander Middle School turf from 3:00-4:30pm starting November 8th and running through December 13th (no session Thanksgiving week). Fall Soccer Skills costs $60 per player.

Winter Sharpness/Parent Skills - Mercer Island FC has offered this popular Friday night program for years. Starting January 5th and running through the end of February, Winter Sharpness allows players to scrimmage with other players of their age and skill level under the watchful eye of Mercer Island High School boys Coach Colin Rigby, assisted by experienced Mercer Island FC and Eastside FC coaches.  

Not only do the kids get high quality academy style training from great coaches, but the parents get a training session too! Aaron Byers, MIFC's Vice President of Player Development has the parents come and do the same activities the kids are doing and progressing through. You get a full understanding of why we do these activities with the players and you have a lot of fun. Last year we had 30+ parents work with Aaron each Friday night.  Of course, you can always use the 90 minutes to go have a dinner with your spouse. But then you'll miss out on the fun of learning the same skills as your son or daughter. 

Winter Sharpness/Parent Skills is held under the lights at the Mercer Island High School Stadium. Cost is $125.

For the past 3 years, Mercer Island FC and our sister clubs from Bellevue, Lake Hills, Newport Hills and Issaquah have held a weekend event  at the end of the  season for our U8-U10 Recreational teams. It is a chance to arrange competition for the teams with opponents who have had similar results during the fall season. For the U-10 teams, it offers a chance to experience a tournament like atmosphere. 

The U8-U9 teams will play two games in the EYSA Open on November 4th. Pairings will be based on results from the first 6 weeks of the season to try and match up similarly skilled teams. The U10 teams will play one game on the 4th and two games on the 5th in the EYSA Cup. The goal is to crown a "champion" for the U10 boys and girls teams.

If you haven't already heard from your coach with specific information on game times and locations, you soon will. Using information from the first 6 weeks of the season, EYSA has built a schedule matching teams of similar ability against each other so teams end the fall season with a "like vs. like" competition. This is especially valuable for U8 teams where creating balanced divisions is particularly hard since all the teams are new.
