Kenro Izu: Along the Silk Road

KENRO IZU , Palmyra #48, Syria,  1995

Our exhibition of Japanese photographer KENRO IZU is on view in our South End gallery at ROBERT KLEIN GALLERY @ ARS LIBRI.

For more than 35 years KENRO IZU has trekked across the world with his custom-made, 300 pound, large-format Deardorff camera and a limited amount of custom-made 14 x 21 inch sheet film to document the sacred sites of past civilizations.

This exhibition features photographs of the ruins and temples that dot the milennia-old trade routes that run between China and the Middle East. The beauty of these ancient structures is reflected in the meticulously crafted platinum/palladium prints that the artist is renowned for.

The exhibition runs until December 23rd, and continues into the new year at our 38 NEWBURY STREET gallery from January 3rd to January 28, 2017.
