Calling generations of all nations to the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ!
November Ministry

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are eagerly anticipating Christmas and the celebration of the birth of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As this year comes to a close, Mike returned to Wenatchee, WA and Moses Lake, WA on November 12 to lead and speak at MOS gatherings in both locations. This was the eighth gathering in the regions this year with final gatherings for 2016 scheduled for December 10.

On Sunday, November 13, Mike preached at Emmanuel Baptist in Moses Lake, WA. His message, The Divine Vision , specifically challenged the men of the church to "tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wondrous work that He has done . . . . that the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born . . . . that they should put their confidence in God . . . ." (Psalm 78:4,6-7).

Simplicity Ministries ® displayed a booth at the Northwest Baptist Convention annual meeting held in Spokane, WA on November 15-16. As a fraternal guest at the convention, Mike was given the opportunity to briefly address those attending about Simplicity Ministries ® . Mike praised the Lord for 54 professions of faith in Jesus this year and many dozens of decisions of confession and renewal by believers at various ministry events. He also offered praise to the Lord for the 5 MOS gatherings and more than 100 men who are being discipled this fall and into next year. Newly elected board member, Robert Sherwood (see below), accompanied Mike to man the booth, pray, and support Mike and the ministry.
Introducing Robert Sherwood as Board Member

Robert joined the Board of Simplicity Ministries in 2016.  He is serving in his first three year term.

Professional Background

Robert graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, majoring in social studies, in 1987.  Following his graduation, Robert worked 26 years as a full-time 5th/6th grade teacher for Spokane Public Schools until 2013 when he retired.

Personal Background

Robert has been married to his wife, Bekki, since 1974. They have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren.  He and Bekki are members at North Addison Baptist Church in Spokane, WA where Robert serves as a shepherd.  Robert and Bekki also teach first and second graders in Sunday School and lead a Bible study for college students in their home.

Robert loves spending time with his family (especially his grandkids), enjoys doing yard work, and cheering for the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys!

We are thankful for the team God has brought together. You can read about each Board Member and volunteer Support Staff

Personal Update on the Thibodeaux Family

Hi, everyone. Debbie here. I wanted to update you on our family life and my current health status. We are still schooling all three kids at home via online charter schools. We moved the girls to a new web academy this year and plan to move Zach to the same in the upcoming school year. We have enjoyed curriculum options available to us in the new school, and the girls are making straight A's in their middle school classes.

We continue to be involved in the AWANA program at Open Door Baptist Church (ODBC). Zach is in his last year of Sparks and the girls volunteer: Michaela with Sparks and Jordan with the little Cubbies. I volunteer with ODBC Middle School and also continue to lead the Women's S.E.A.D.S. group at Greater Gresham Baptist (GGBC). I am so thankful for 15+ women who gather weekly to learn from the Word and challenge each other to walk humbly with our God and lead others to know Him. Mike continues to lead our Adult Bible Fellowship on Sunday mornings at GGBC. We are blessed by the 35 people who participate in this Gospel community.

I am also grateful to report that my health continues to be stable. I had a small "valley" early in the year when my symptoms began to return, but once we figured out that my medication had a slight change and that was remedied, everything smoothed out again. I do have occasional days when I'm overly tired or getting sick that I may struggle with mild symptoms, but most days I feel very normal. Thank you for continued prayers and concern for my health!

Seeking 5 Minute Prayer Partners

Simplicity Ministries ® is enlisting intercessors who will join the work of God and commit to pray for this ministry.

Our strategy is called the 5 Minute Prayer Partner.  When you commit to pray with us, you are committing to pray for 5 minutes when you receive your 5 Minute Prayer Partner Update by email.  Emails are sent typically the week of an upcoming ministry event. Of course, you can always pray more for us and those we serve!

As believers are unified in prayer and cry out to God, we see the moving of His Spirit to change lives.  We recognize that apart from Jesus we can do nothing. Through partnership with Christians who share our vision, we are able to call generations of every nation to the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.
