I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and that you are on the right path to a wonderful Holiday Season as well.
We, your POA Board of Directors, have consistently delivered to you, our members, timely information about lake related matters, matters of interest, as well as issues that impact our community. Recently, one of our members queried me about providing more information about the workings of the board. I discussed the request with board officers then formed a committee chaired by Susie Crawford, First Vice President, to look at what, if anything we could or should do to provide more information to our members regarding board activities. Susie's committee met and provided several recommendations which were then provided to our board members electronically. Several recommendations were unanimously approved by the board for immediate adoption while additional ones will require more work. The adopted recommendations you will see soon include:
- General Meeting Minutes from the June and August 2016 meetings will appear in the Fall 2016 Dispatch for those who were unable to attend the meetings themselves.
- The 2016 budget (estimated expenses vs. actuals) which will also include any specific donations made by the board and the total number of POA Membership Accounts for 2016 will appear in the Winter 2016-2017 Dispatch which essentially provides the annual income for the preceding year.
We plan to provide this information in this manner going forward each year.
As a reminder, the names of our board members together with contact details are available on our web site as well as in every issue of the Dispatch. Also on our website are the POA By Laws that guide our actions. Additionally, as is clear in the By Laws, members in good standing are invited to attend board meetings but are asked to notify the board in advance to insure adequate seating is available. Likewise, all members as well as the public are invited to attend our General Membership Meetings. Dates for all of these meetings for 2017 can be found on the web site.
