Chapter Salutes CCIM Veterans Statewide and Shares Update on CCIM Program for Vets

Florida CCIM Chapter President Chere Roane, CCIM has deep respect for military veterans.

It's no wonder. Chere has had many family members and friends serve the United States armed forces, hence she has taken up the plight of the Veteran as a Board Member of VAREP (Veteran Real Estate Professional Association) - a group that lobbies for the veterans housing and real estate rights.  This led her to approach CCIM regarding the classes being added to the approved courses for CCIM veterans.

So when the CCIM Institute united with the U.S. government to offer CCIM Institute commercial real estate training earlier this year, the longtime member of the Orlando Post of V.F.W. 2093 and the American Legion Post 19, was thrilled.
"We have more than a dozen CCIMs from Florida who are military veterans," Chere shares. "We salute each of our veterans this Veterans Day and thank them for all their service and commitment to both our country and our commercial industry.  The great news for Veterans Day 2016 is that now our CCIM Institute has created a path for more veterans to join us. This is a wonderful program and a great way for us to honor such a precious part of our community," Chere adds.
For U.S. veterans who have honed good skills applicable in many industries, they often need further specialized training to enter new careers: CCIM Institute, a recognized expert in commercial real estate education, is uniting with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to offer vets its rigorous commercial real estate professional education funded through the GI Bill.
The new CCIM Vets in Real Estate Program aims to expand the career opportunities for vets at top commercial real estate firms such as Marcus & Millichap, Ten-X, and Colliers International. As members of the CCIM Institute Advisory Council, these companies are developing a bona fide path to gainful employment for CCIM-educated vets in the profession.

First Annual
Women At The Beach Event
A Success

Less than a week before Daytona Beach was visited by Hurricane Matthew, a group of Central Florida's top commercial real estate women enjoyed a day of perfect weather and perfect camaraderie on the world's most famous beach.
The first-time event saw a group of women from the Florida Chapter's Central District, along with related professionals, came together in Volusia County for a day filled with networking, as well as sharing of best practices and market knowledge.
Held on Saturday, October 1 - the day began with a 5K beach walk. Attendees next gathered at Black Pearl Real Estate for a continental breakfast and insider perspective of "What's Happening in Daytona Beach and Volusia County."
"We were thrilled to host the inaugural event," explains Sue Odena, CCIM, of Black Pearl Real Estate. "We hope we can make this an annual event and continually offer such detailed updates on this high-growth area. We thoroughly enjoyed a day with other professional women who know how to get commercial real estate done right," Odena adds.
