MCCPTA Gifted Child Committee
The Program Schedule for the December 11th   Educational Forum for Families is now finalized. We are very excited about the breadth and depth of the Presentations for parents and Student Sessions (for 4th  through 12th   grade students) that will be offered.

Thanks much for informing Montgomery County student families about this upcoming program. If you could share the attached Program Schedule with your families and also encourage them to sign up for specific Student Sessions by going to the DC Forum page on www.scholarsearchassoc.com, that would be great. Families can also access the Forum Schedule by gong to the DC Forum page and clicking "Program Schedule on the horizontal menu.

Spaces for the Student Sessions are limited and tend to fill quickly. To guarantee spots for any of the Sessions, parents should sign up for the Forum and Student Sessions (all on one form) via our site soon. To sign up, parent should check out the Schedule and then click on the "Sign-Ups & Directions" tab on the left side of the DC Forum page   on our site and select the Sessions in which their children have interest.
GT Liaisons Needed!
The MES/LV PTA is still in need of a GT Liaison for the 2016-2017 school year. The GT Liaison plays a vital role in advocating for the needs of highly able learners by providing a critical link among the school community, the MCCPTA GCC, and MCPS. The time commitment is rather minimal, and the role can be shared by more than one person at a school. If interested, please contact [email protected].

REQUIRED Volunteer Training
Referenced at Back to School Night
As part of this ongoing effort for the 2016-2017 school year, MCPS has developed training for all volunteers in the district to learn about recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect.  While we encourage all community members to engage in this important, informative training,  currently we only require individuals who regularly support schools as well as all field trip volunteers to complete the Child Abuse and Neglect training.

The online training can be accessed through the MCPS website at:

Once completed, please forward the Confirmation of Completion email with your confirmation code to Mrs. Clark at [email protected] and Mrs. Salvino at  [email protected].
