After School Sports 
We are pleased to offer the After School Sports Program for our 5th and 6th graders again this year. 
6 th graders will meet on Tuesdays
September 12th  - December 12th
 
NO SESSION on:  Tuesday, October 31st  or  Tuesday, November 21st
 
5 th graders will meet on Wednesdays
September 13th  thru December 13th
 
NO SESSION on:  Wednesday, November 1st  or  Wednesday,  November 22nd

The program for both grade levels will run from 3:35 pm  - 4:30 pm.  
KW staff, as well as other teachers from District 36, will supervise all activities, including: volleyball, soccer, floor hockey, flag football, softball/blamball and other low organized games.  It is understood that conflicts with other commitments may arise - e.g. scouts, music lessons, doctor appointments - however, your child is encouraged to attend the program on as many dates as are available.  
Parents are responsible for arranging transportation home following the After School Sports Program, which ends promptly at 4:30 pm.

Climbing Club 
Once again, we are pleased to offer the Skokie Climbing Club to students who would like to climb the Skokie High Ropes Course after school. This is a great way to spend some time climbing in an extended session. So, sign up with a friend or come to meet new friends!
Who is eligible to enroll? 
  • Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader who has previously completed climbing instruction at Skokie School.
  • Any 5th grader who has completed climbing instruction during the 2017 Adventures Program.
Details:
  • We will be offering 12 sessions of co-educational classes during our first semester, with a limit of 14 climbers per session.
  • The Climbing Club begins September 12th and runs through December 21st ( * please note 'skipped dates').
  • Each session starts promptly at 3:35 pm and ends at 4:30 pm.
  • Students are expected to stay until 4:30 pm to assist with clean up.
  • Parents are responsible for arranging transportation home following the Climbing Club Program.
  • Personal nut-free snacks are allowed.
  • Parents are invited to watch their children climb!
  • All sessions are conducted and supervised by the Skokie KW teachers.
We must have a minimum of 4 participants in order to hold a climbing club session.

Creative Writing
 
Love to write? Enjoy sharing your writing and working with other writers? The Creative Writing Club is for you! The Creative Writing Club is a workshop-based club, focused on building skills, sharing work, receiving feedback, and striving for publication.
Bi-Weekly - Wednesdays : Oct 4 & 18, Nov 1, 15 & 29;

Club meets at the Skokie School in Room 176 
Open to 5th and 6th grade.

First Lego League Robotics Team 
Come be a part of the Skokie/Washburne FLL team!  Take on Frist Lego League challenges. Build and program with Lego Mindstorms to accomplish tasks.  Compete against other teams for global domination!  The club meets Tuesdays  from 3:30-4:30 at Skokie School (10/3-11/28).  Join Mr. Martinsen, Mrs. McDonogh, Mr. Selgrat, and experienced FLL champion coach, Mr. Graham in our inaugural season!

We are pleased and excited to be offering a garden club program for the sixth and fifth graders, for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. The garden club will give students at Skokie an opportunity to better understand the relationship they could have with nature, creating a dynamic environment for learning core subjects and promote cooperation through group activities.  Children will also be taught to conserve natural resources to help preserve their environment.  The garden club hopes to encourage self-confidence and a sense of responsibility for all who participate.

Math Counts Club 
The Skokie Math Counts team is designed to engage students with a deep passion and motivation for Math.  Its members engage in the opportunity to compete on several levels (MathCounts teams exist in all 50 states). The competing team consists of up to ten 6th grade students;  our participating 5th grade Skokie students will be as mathematically engaged as our 6th grade members, but will not be a competing member on the team until their 6th grade year.

Play It Now Math Club - Open to both 5th and 6th graders! 
Play it Now Math Club is a returning math and logic game club for all Skokie students!  Whether your child can't get enough of all things math or wants to build math confidence and skill, this club is the perfect fit!  Each week, engaging new games are introduced that grow perseverance, logic, strategic thinking, and computational fluency.  Our club provides a relaxed environment for building both friendships and mathematical thinking! We have tons of great games like: Blockus, Krypto, Chess, Math Dice, Blink, Swish, Battleship, 24, Quirkle, Set and many, many more!  Club meets 7:30 - 8:25 a.m. in the Skokie School Loft on Wednesday mornings.   Sign up now for session 1, which runs from October 18 to January 31.  Come and join the fun!

Science Olympiad 
The Skokie School is excited to offer the opportunity for both 5th and 6th graders to join a Division A Science Olympiad Team. This is a non-competitive format of the Science and Engineering based program. Skokie students participating in the program are then primed to participate in the competitive level at Washburne, should they continue to be interested. Registration is limited to the first 30 students to submit the online form.

Skokie Art Club 
Students in the Skokie Art Club will use this time to explore a variety of media, processes and techniques. This is an opportunity to dive deep into personal interests while expressing yourself creatively, as well as work alongside and with other young artists.

Skokie Memory Book Club  
Our Memory Book is a student-run publication that tells the yearly story of Skokie School in words & pictures. It's a history book AND a memory book, but it's also a Journalism Lab that encourages students to learn through hands-on experience. Students plan, design, write, edit & take pictures during the production of the memory book with a goal of including everyone in the school. Club members work after school on Tuesdays to make the memory book a reality.

Cereal Club is back! The Cereal Club was originally established at New Trier in 2002. This is a club for anyone who enjoys a relaxing conversation and a bowl of cereal! All you need to bring is your favorite box of (NUT FREE) cereal to share with the group! We will meet Friday mornings, before school, in The Den- room 044, inside the cafeteria. We will be starting on November 3rd, from 7:45-8:10am.
