Pledging for Stewardship of Treasure
John Wolfe
I have been a member of St Matthias for over 20 years.  A few years ago, I came down with cancer.  I had a rough time dealing with the disease and was very sick for a long time.  I had to rely on others to help me get better.  I put my faith in doctors, nurses and specialists.  I thank God for all of them.  But I could not have gotten through the ordeal without my other support groups; that of family, friends and my Church.  My wife and I realize that through Stewardship we are able to help support our Church.  Through our gift of money, we are able to help make sure that our parish will continue to be there to help other parishioners on their journey through life.

Please look for the Treasure Renewal 2017 booklet that you should have received in the mail last week.  Fill out the pledge form on the last page and bring it to Mass next week.

Health Corner
Do you have advanced directives?
If you are over 18 it is important to fill out [advanced directives] otherwise called Durable Power of Attorney for health care forms.

These forms direct a person of your choosing to make your health care decisions, if you are not able to speak for yourself.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has advanced directive forms available online.  These forms are designed to be completed without the assistance of an attorney.  Given your particular circumstances or concerns, however, you may want to seek legal advice from an attorney.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Are you always grateful for a nice pillow to rest your head on...
... or for a warm blanket at night, for personal hygiene items, fresh fruit, or the company of others?  If you answered "no" , then you are like most of us who have many blessings  but don't always notice  or appreciate them.   One way to increase our awareness and gratitude  is to serve those less fortunate,  and the SET Ministry's (setinc.org) annual Holiday Cheer event for senior citizens ( December 3, 2016 this year) is a wonderful way to do this.
Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.

The Communications Committee is looking for working members.  This is an active ministry that works with our web site, Facebook page and E-Newsletter.  The committee meets in the parish office conference room the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM we are usually finished by 8:30 PM.  You don't have to be a techno wiz; if you love to write and report on parish activities we welcome you.  We need you to help bring the story of St. Mathias Parish forward.  If you are interested, please call the parish office (414) 321-0893 or e-mail.

Thank you

Merciful like the Father

In the Year of Mercy, every Christian family can become a privileged place on this pilgrimage for experiencing the joy of forgiveness. Forgiveness is the essence of the love which can understand mistakes and mend them.

Sister Parish Committee
In Mexico our Catholic Priests are being attacked and need our Prayers.  Please keep them in your Prayers, especially our sister Parish Santa Maria de los Angeles in Arambarri, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Would also be an excellent idea to keep the World Church in your prayers as well.

St. Matthias Parish is excited to participate in a new third source funding initiative.  Amazon has created Smile Amazon. This is through Amazon.com and it allows the purchaser to choose a non-profit group which will receive 0.5% of all your purchases. The way this works is that you can log in to Smile Amazon (www.smile.amazon.com) just as you would for Amazon.  All your Amazon.com services, such as Prime, will carry over to Smile Amazon. You will choose your non-profit benefactor, St. Matthias Congregation.  Then use Smile Amazon as you would Amazon.com.  Every time you make a purchase, 0.5% of that purchase will be donated to St. Matthias Congregation.

Thank you for your continued support of our parish
